We've reached our goal!
Dear Friends,
After a flurry of pledges last night, we reached the goal and then surpassed it! Since I was still in disbelief today, I checked the numbers again and again, and thereby confirm the results. Yay!
I've been truly touched the by responses I've gotten from all over the globe. So may people care deeply about the story of my family, and of course, the story of Japan in the aftermath of the disasters. I'd like to take this opportunity to tip my hat to a few contributors including my college buddy who stepped up to assume her role as Executive Producer; a total stranger who decided to pledge at the Associate Producer level simply because the story resonated with him personally; and a lady who studied pottery across the road from my parents' house just two years before I was born - a big coincidence that she came upon this project at all.
By no means, does this reduce the significance of anybody else's pledges because as they say, it takes a village... to make a film! And everybody's contribution matters a great deal. Merely, I point out these three examples that confirm my somewhat optimistic view of the world: friends matter greatly; strangers are kind; and lastly, the world is very small. Here's some proof that all these things are true, and I hope that makes you feel warm and fuzzy as I've been feeling in these past couple of weeks.
Although we've reached the goal, any additional funds will allow me to put finishing touches on the film, such as sound mix, color correct, and even hiring a story consultant who can help to fine-tune the narrative structure of the film. So please continue to spread the word until the end of the campaign, which is March 31st. After that, the URL kasamayakifilm.com will be forwarded to the permanent website for the film, which I'm working on right now!
I hope you all have a wonderful evening! Please feel free to get in touch with me anytime through the Facebook page: facebook.com/kasamayaki.
Love,
Yuki

Be careful with those things. Warm fuzzies are known to be contagious :)
