@black_fm I forgot to mention the other yoyos in my update. We are still waiting on the other yoyos to come in. My original intention was to ship everything at the same time, but if the Civility gets significantly delayed I will rethink that and get the yoyos for the other reward levels out earlier if that is possible.

I understand that Civility is taking time to be produced properly, but what about the Beginner Kit, when should we expect it?

@Matthew New, no I never have produced anything, so I don't know the intricate details of what going on in the engine of this machine that we are getting behind, so it would be acceptable for me to not know what I'm doing. However, the people on kickstarter are more often than not very familiar with this process and should have experience with delays and therefore take that into account before even starting the project. If you give a date you should endeavour to stick to it, and in my experience 100% of the kickstarters that I have backed haven't done this. Your metaphor just isn't relavant, do you want me to go down to their HQ and help out, just to get this thing out on time? I'm the consumer not the process this isn't my responsibility. Do you think that because other projects haven't adhered to the given estimation date that this then becomes acceptable when further projects follow suit? As a consumer you should be annoyed every time this happens, just because you have had a lot of experience with failings from project managers this doesn't mean you should grow accustomed to it! Diablo is completely unrelated, we didn't all put our money forward on the promise of a 2005 release for it to be delayed over and over again, do you honestly think that if we did, people would be "Oh don't worry, it's finally out now, I should just be grateful that the project manager actually got off of his arse and actually put out what he promised to all those years ago." Of course we wouldn't, there would be outrage and you know it. I shouldn't have to be thankful to receive something that I have paid money to receive, the absolute bare minimum that I am owed as a consumer is a working product that is delivered when stated by the producer, nothing more, nothing less.

It would be nice if all Kickstarts would keep commenting and/or giving updates after they fund. Adam was not a frequent updater before funding, but now stuff should be happening since the funds are in hand. It would be nice if we could be kept in the loop on what is happening behind the scenes every week or so. With news tidbits, at least we can feel like there is progress and a light at the end of the (perhaps very long) tunnel and not just some black hole down which we sent our funds.

I just want to say I'm very happy this kickstarter went so well!! Also I totally respect and appreciate the fact that you are taking time to investigate the many production processes. I appreciate quality and I will happily wait as long as it takes to make the highest quality product become available.

Yes it can be dissapointing for some people to not have their expectations of a certain release date to be met but honestly you guys need to understand this is all for your benefit... rushing a product would not be in your best interest trust me.

Thank you for making the ultimate quality product available to me!!!! TYVM

@ Ryan Krol and everyone else who whines about delays, clearly you have never produced anything, even in somewhat smaller quantity than this project. If you wish to know how it feels to drive the bus, then make steps to get behind the wheel.
Consider the fact that none of the projects you have backed have arrived by said date, why would you expect any future projects you invest in to be the one and only exception?
In my eyes a vast majority of projects have a fairly reasonable wait time, even if it is several months later. Months are nothing compared to the amount of time we had to wait for Diablo 3... around 10 years. Consider yourself lucky.

Thus I leave you with this: Why waste your time with worrying about when said product will arrive? Be happy and thankful when it does.

Creator Emil Brown on March 10

Having raised almost 7 times your stated goal, I'm sure producing 200 units was a complication you guys didn't foresee. While I'd love to have it now, I'm glad you're taking to time to give your backers a perfected, finished product, rather than a rushed disappointment. Civility requires patience. Go figure. ;-)

I think that you guys are awesome and I'm looking forward to getting the best yo yo u can provide so take all the time you need to perfect it & keep up the good yo yoing :)

    11. Missing_small

Creator Ryan Krol on March 8

I'm getting kind of sick of projects constantly being delayed. i don't think I've been involved in one that has actually arrived on time yet, most are at least one month late and it's just frustrating. There's nothing wrong with putting a later date on the kickstarter just in case you run into complications, if anything I'll just be pleasantly surprised when it arrives earlier if nothing went wrong, and I won't have known the difference if it's a month later than you wanted but you put the later estimation date. I'm sorry that I'm taking this out on you, it's just highly annoying that this keeps happening.

At this point we are expecting to ship the Civility yoyos in April. I have gone ahead and posted a few more details concerning this in the most recent update (#3). We will be collecting addresses and color choices when we have ordered the production run of Civility Yoyos.

@Matt Katch It should not make any difference in terms of it's ability to sleep. However, it may affect it's ability to do certain tricks like grinding. We will report on these differences when we have been able to test them a bit more.

    18. Missing_small

would raw unanodized vs. the anodized version make any difference in terms of performance?

    19. Persona2.small

Creator Adam Bottiglia on February 10

@Max Schwede March is not a lock, only because it is difficult to tell how many projects will be in line before us with the machine shop we are using in SE Michigan. However, if we get the yoyos back from the shop as quickly as we expect to get them, then delivery by the end of March should be no problem.
It has been so fun to play with the prototypes these past few weeks. We can't wait to get them into the hands of all our supporters!

@Matt Katch - We have not changed the international shipping (despite the recent increase from the post office) so you should be good to go. Also, we have posted a FAQ at the bottom of our Kickstarter page with the stats. I think the only thing we don't mention is that the Civility is an unresponsive yoyo. I'm glad you're thinking about getting back into the game! I hope you find YoTricks.com valuable in your pursuit of a higher state of yo.

    23. Missing_small

Creator Matt Katch on February 3

ah, I missed the update in shipping cost; I pledged the $9 over for international shipping, but if I want it shipped internationally, now, what do I need to pledge over?

also, there weren't that many stats about the yo-yo posted and I was just curious if it was going to be non-responsive, what size bearings, and so-on.... I'm not an expert or anything -- in fact I wanted to get back into yo-yo after a long stint away because you guys make rope-riding look so cool -- but I was curious anyway

    24. Persona2.small

Creator Adam Bottiglia on January 30

@Andreas G. Nile In terms of potentially dropping the extra $12, that will be difficult, because the U.S. Postal Service just raised their rates for international shipping. While I was aware that there would be an increase in the cost of shipping this January I was expecting the typical increase of around 5% or so. I was stunned this past week to see that they actually raised their rates by 59% for international shipping. The $12 that I expected it to cost to ship a reward to international backers is now going to be between $18-$19. This additional and unforeseen cost, while not devastating to the project, does limit our ability to offer a shipping discount as you recommend.
I have been thinking about other ways to show our appreciation for all the support we have received. Besides the blasting and polishing we mentioned in our first update, we are about to start testing an ultra-durable coating on the Civility that we hope will keep the yoyos playing better and lasting longer than straight anodizing. If this works as well as we expect our hope is to make this available to our Kickstarter backers. We will issue an update as soon as we have something concrete to report on this front.

Interesting project, hence my full backing support. Have you considered dropping the extra $12 for US-outsiders now that you've overreached your goal by 500% already?

    26. Persona2.small

Creator Adam Bottiglia on January 15

@Patrick Falle Thanks for the support. It's nice to know that others appreciate the design as much as we do! We are still talking about stretch goals, but have not come to any definite conclusions. What we do know is that we are going to be experimenting with soda blasting and polishing on the Civility (something we were not sure we would be able to do until we saw how much support we had received). Once we have figured out the viability of these options for the yoyo we will have a better idea of how to move forward.

    27. Persona2.small

Creator Adam Bottiglia on January 15

@Zdenek Kraus Once we get closer to our goal it is our intention to open color choices up to backers.
