About this project

On the heels of our wildly-successful GE's Gift to America campaign, US Uncut is back in the laboratory plotting our next exploit. What did we learn in our toils to understand the true nature of the tax dodger? Where will we strike next? How many multi-national corporations can fit into one office building in the Cayman Islands?

In order to understand why thousands of teachers are losing their jobs across the country, we set out to discover where the leak was in Uncle Sam's revenue bucket. In Washington, we found myriad lobbying groups and politicians bickering about tax repatriation holidays, negative corporate tax rates and comprehensive tax reform. Oh my! But nobody could explain where the money went, and how to get it home?

Nearly exhausted, we were about to throw in the beach towel when a sign came - in the form of a palm tree. Could it be that all the money is just a few tropical waves south of Key West? Sitting in off-shore bank accounts, just waiting to be brought back to share with eager shareholders and upstanding citizens alike?

So, all aboard, mateys! Will you help us:

  • Hire a kick-butt video crew
  • Journey to the world's most exotic offshore tax haven,
  • Embarrass tax lobbyists and politicians, and
  • Bring the Money Home! (All fair taxes apply.)

Along the way, we'll uncover the world's best-kept tax secrets and unravel the lies that weave the story of our (supposedly) broke country. And, as always, we'll proclaim: No budget cuts until corporate tax cheats pay up!

Love and bon voyage,

US Uncut

  • US Uncut is a grassroots anti-tax avoidance group with hundreds of local chapters across the USA. Built on the model of UK Uncut, we seek to highlight irresponsible corporate tax evasion/avoidance and the politicians that enable it. Our message: "No budget cuts until corporations pay up!"

  • Latetely, a coalition of large corporations have come together - under the name "WIN America Campaign" - in an expensive scam to lobby Congress to allow them to "bring the money home." $1 Trillion in cash profits. The string attached? They don't want to pay their fair share of corporate taxes on this money, so they're holding it hostage in offshore tax havens like the Cayman Islands until the U.S. government bends and lets them repatriate it at a highly-reduced tax rate.

We intend to make a mockery of this lobbying ploy. Using their own language.

  • To raise awareness about corporate tax evasion through offshoring, and the inevitable budget cuts that result from this lost revenue, we want to make a short film.

Your donation will help us in every stage of producing this short documentary exposé.

  • Sure! If you have film skills/equipment, even better...

Seriously, though, this is a citizens tax holiday. If you want to be a part of a social statement that we're not going to put up with offshore tax havens when social services are being slashed acros the country - come on board! Message us with (serious) inquiries.
