Welcome to YARNANA!
"LOST ON THE STREETS OF NEW YORK, A CROCHET GIRL MUST DECIDE WHAT'S REAL BEFORE HER CROCHET WORLD UNRAVELS."
YARNANA is an explosive film experience, featuring the “Crochet Madness” of New York artist, Olek. Inspired by the silent film genre, it relies solely on powerful music, sound design and physical expression. The characters speak through modern dance, physical comedy, capoeira, martial arts, poi, belly dancing, breakdance, acrobatics, gymnastics and the instincts of soul searchers.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
MICHELLE: My passion is film making. To me, making a film is the ultimate party. The minute I began on YARNANA I knew I was on a special project. Each step has been supported by the right people presenting themselves. It is a tribute to all the creative, hard working people willing to dedicate themselves to a passion project, and to New York where everything is possible.
OLEK: I will try anything new at this point in my life.
GINA: Last summer, I moved suddenly to New York City on a personal revolution. I have been going through my own crochet madness. This story is an expression of that... 20 minutes of a wild unraveling. This is a film to inspire and move... and for that, it must be made.
WHERE WILL THE DONATIONS GO?
The donations will cover the hard costs of camera rentals, equipment and lighting rentals, costumes, props, special effects, insurance, locations, construction, food, etc. Our talented, key, crew members will receive a small stipend in exchange for their hard work
Post production will be accounted for. Post includes, editing, color correcting, music composition, sound design, audio mixing and high definition finishing and mastering. We will also create an incredible title sequence, alluring the audience into the world of YARNANA!
Distribution is a beast of its own and requires many dubs, promotional materials, film festival submission fees, etc.
Promotional materials include film posters, press kits, stickers, etc.
The most fun part of the distribution process will be our special screenings! These will require some refreshments, chair rentals and projection equipment.
It does not end there....
HOW WILL WE DISTRIBUTE THE FILM?
The world will see YARNANA! By fall 2011, we plan to submit the film to major national and international film festivals. In addition, we will schedule collaborative YARNANA screening events that will include live music accompaniment and dance performances. To create a global journey, we will invite fans of YARNANA to host their own viewing parties. We will support these events by providing DVD’s and film posters.

YARNANA is a short film collaboration between three women who were brought together by Rue B's mimosas in the East Village and dreams of a crochet world.
OLEK
Olek's powerful work makes New York's crowds stop walking, stop staring at the ground. She believes in the beauty of an art form that is always changing, being destroyed, and reformed as a new work. Her work has also been exhibited in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Berlin (Germany), Utica, Salvador de Bahia (Brazil), and Istanbul (Turkey). Olek has also participated in residencies at Sculpture Space and Artists Alliance Lower East Side-Rotating Studio Program in New York, and the Instituto Sacatar in Brazil. She has had commissioned work for the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and will be creating a sculptural environment for the Smithsonian Museum in 2012.
DIRECTOR
Gina Vecchione is an award-winning director and Emmy Award-winning editor based in New York City. Her work has been shown in various film festivals including, the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam. Her editing credits include shows for National Geographic, History Channel, OWN, Discovery Channel, MTV, England’s Channel 4 and various other networks and websites.
PRODUCER
Michelle Price has forged a career producing original content across a variety of platforms including films, commercials, viral, digital, and live events. Since graduating Emerson College Michelle has produced award winning campaigns for such clients as ESPN, Virgin Music, Anti-Smoking for California, SONY, Adidas, and Google to name a few. Michelle loves to work and travel and produces on a freelance basis, in the US and internationally.
