City of Stairways is a book about San Francisco secrets written by youth. Both travel guide and poetry anthology, it's a love letter to San Francisco.

Hello! We’re the youth of WritersCorps, a program that offers free writing workshops to youth ages 6 to 22 at public schools, libraries, juvenile hall, and community centers.

Some of us are part of the WritersCorps Apprentices. It's an after-school program that offers advanced writing workshops to teens who really love to write -- and who want to belong to a community of writers.

This year, our project for the WritersCorps Apprentices is a book about our favorite places in San Francisco. Called City of Stairways: A Poet’s Field Guide to San Francisco, it’s both a travel guide and poetry anthology. It's our love letter to San Francisco.

Anyone who picks up our book can get an off-road, insider’s perspective on San Francisco. We’ve been going on treks throughout the city to write about our favorite parks, eateries, bus lines, shops, and city secrets. The book will be 7 by 7 inches (just as our city is 7 by 7 miles) and will be divided into sections about different neighborhoods. Accompanied by maps and original photography and art, each section of the book offers fun walks off the beaten path.

Now we need your help to create this unique travel book. We're raising money to help pay for the costs of creating, printing, and distributing the book. The more money we raise, the more copies we can print! Will you please help make our publishing dreams come true?

Sincerely,
The WritersCorps Apprentices:

Anna Lei, 15
Annie Yu, 21
Indiana Pehlivanova, 19
Geoffrey Simpson, 15
Hong Truong, 15
Marcella Ortiz, 20
Nicole Zatarain Rivera, 17
Robin Black, 21
Sandra Pulido, 21
