Update #4: "are you okay"?
well, the film is going great. so in that sense: "yes"!
to the extent that we don't have the money yet to get the film ready for february 1: "no."
we need $30K by midnight on Tuesday in order to get the picture finished and get it off to the digital carriers for the 02/01 start date.
so if you want to help, and i presume you do because if you're reading this it means you've already pledged, then all i can ask is that you Tell Other People to pledge, as much as they can and as quickly as they can.
and beyond that: thank you!
and since it's 12:59am: good morning.

Update #2: if you have pledged anything to BASS ACKWARDS, please pledge $1 at our new kickstarter page
because we need $50K to get to sundance.
if you have already done this, stop reading now and have a great day.
if not, read on:

this is where I'm managing all this from from now on for BASS ACKWARDS.
and maybe: because that's where you'll see a new viral video starring mark duplass on monday-ish.
IF YOU'RE GOOD, AND PLEDGE $1
do i have your attention?

$1
happy palindrome day.
Update #1: pledge $1 at our new kickstarter campaign site and stay BASS ACKWARDS
so i'll keep this short because you know the spiel. click here to pledge $1 at our new kickstarter campaign and stay in the BASS ACKWARDS loop.
i can't actually port your addresses over to our new $50K kickstarter ask, because as yancey strickland, co-founder of kickstarter.com has told me, there's no way to do that directly.
so the way we have to do it is for you to take out your wallets again, i'm afraid, but for only $1, at the new kickstarter ask, and i can keep you in the loop about the developments on BASS ACKWARDS.
and lemme say, they're pretty cool, even today. i talked for 45 minutes with Variety, for example, we sent Karina Longworth a DVD of the film cos she asked for it, we got scores of press breaks, &c., which you can google, including EW.com, Screen Daily, &c., and i linked to a few of the most important at the new kickstarter page.
i also talked yesterday with eugene hernandez, editor-in-chief of IndieWire, so he might or might not circulate something shortly too.
and finally, our amazing co-producer Stu Pollard, agreed in talking with me today to do some way important ground-work in LA. he was a key component of TRUE ADOLESCENTS happening the way it did, and is i owe him a huge debt of gratitude. ask me for a Pollard story or two, and i shall regale you with tales of humility, wisdom and most importantly, humor.
pledge another $1 and keep it BASS ACKWARDS and i'll do my level best to do the same!
oh, and: please don't watch the video. it's embarrassing. and long.
yours,
tw

Connected as Thomas Woodrow (1700 friends)
"Aunt Louisa" marks Thomas Woodrow's return to writing/directing after multiple outings as an independent producer. Most recently, TRUE ADOLESCENTS (dir. Craig Johnson, starring Mark Duplass and Academy Award-winner Melissa Leo) was released to warm critical reception upon its theatrical run in New York.
His first feature was SHADOWS, a five-country co-production written and directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Milcho Manchevksi. SHADOWS premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was the highest-grossing film ever released in its home country, Macedonia.
Woodrow has received significant attention for BASS ACKWARDS, which he distributed commercially simultaneous with its premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, a first in independent film history.
He is the recipient of both the Sundance Producing Fellowship and the IFP/Rotterdam Fellowship. He holds an MFA from NYU’s graduate film program, where he won the Producing Award an unprecedented two years in a row, as well as a BA with Honors from Yale University.
