Woodland Empire Ale Craft is the culmination of all our hopes and dreams in delicious liquid form. Imaginative, handcrafted, Idahoan.
What is your project, and why did you decide to do it?
We are in the process of opening a small, family-run brewery in Boise, Idaho called Woodland Empire Ale Craft. We will offer unique and artistic beers with labels that not only tell about the barley pop inside but that tell a story as well. We have a passion for local, sustainably sourced ingredients, imaginative beer and creativity, and we love working together. We want to show our two sons that if you have passion and work hard enough you can make something awesome happen. So we set out to start our own brewery.
Why did you choose Kickstarter?
We realized early on that we couldn't do this alone and needed the support of as many people as possible. That's why we chose to use Kickstarter- because, as cheesy as it sounds, it's people helping people. Your support will help us a ton and we will think you are really awesome.
What kind of rewards will you offer, and what happens with the money you receive?
In the spirit of our passion and creativity all of our rewards will be hand-made, unique, and one-of-a-kind. If our project is successful the money will be used to secure a building, begin the licensing process, and order a pilot brewing system. However, if we don't reach our goal by the project deadline, we'll get nothing, you'll get no rewards, and everyone will be sad.
What qualifies you to open your own brewery?
Together we have been brewing our own recipes at home for the past 6 years, including a gold-medal winning Dortmunder-style lager. Rob (the one with the beard) has been selling craft beer for the past 10 years, and has been brewing professionally for the past 2 years. Rob has been a Certified Cicerone® since 2010.
