… and they’re awesome! The Elite Core headphone mixers were the last piece in the equipment puzzle and they are now up and running. We’ve never run so clean and we can’t wait to put the full system to a test tonight with Enemy Star on Local/Live.

At this point, we’re going to spend some time testing and tweaking the new gear to ensure perfection and then we’ll hang the tributes to all of you, the beautiful people who made this studio possible. When that happens we’ll let you know so you can come down and check it out for yourself.

We’re back! After the Local/Live hiatus we are up and running tonight and we cannot wait to test the new gear with Milwaukee duo, Magnetic Minds.

This is a soft launch of the equipment as we’re still waiting for headphone mixers to arrive to put the brand new WMSE Bob and Genie Friedman Live Performance Studio to its full use. Aside from that, all the gear is here and installed and the studio has undergone a beautiful makeover. Take a look at some of the pictures below to see the nice warm glow and sleek gear that your generous contributions made possible and we’ll continue to keep you posted on the few remaining pieces.

Tonight is our first live run so tune in and check it out. As always, WMSE strives for excellence but we’re still learning some of the bells and whistles so anything can happen. Local, live radio - it doesn’t get any better!

If you’ve been paying attention, you may have noticed that Local/Live was once again on hiatus this week.  While that is admittedly a huge bummer, the coming studio will be well worth the wait.  We expect to be up and running again on May 29 and we’ll share information on the official dedication as soon we can.  In the meantime, here’s a brief note from WMSE's very own Live In-Studio Performance Engineer, Billy Cicerelli: 

"Well... the old equipment is in a WELL deserved retirement after 13 years of dedicated service and more than 1500 bands. The new snake is installed and the studio awaits a fresh coat of paint. Once that happens, we will start installing the new gear. We’re still waiting on the new Elite Core headphone mixers which should arrive soon and anticipate that Local/Live will be up and running again on May 29.” 

We can assure you that the new equipment that your generous contributions made possible will be well worth the wait!  Besides, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Local/Live: May 8 - Studio Renovation 

We're excited to announce that we have begun renovating the live broadcast and recording studios today, Monday, May 7th. Billy worked really hard to make sure he researched the heck out of the best options given the budget you helped us create by contributing to the Keep Live Music on WMSE project. Now, all the parts and gear have arrived and it's time to get to work to make your money sing. 

Below you'll find a few snapshots of the old computer retiring, Billy sitting in a cleared out studio to make way for the new gear, and an action shot of the new snake being installed.  All this and the Spring Membership Drive makes for an action packed Monday.
