Help hire Band Coaches for this awesome teen band!
The Awkward Turtles formed at Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls in Brooklyn in the summer of 2009 and liked playing in a band so much, they decided to stay together! Now, they travel from all over New York City – the drummer from Harlem, the lead singer from Bay Ridge, the bass player from Bed-Stuy, and the guitarist from Belle Harbor – to rehearse every Friday night at Willie Mae Music Lab, a non-profit community music center in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. They are a four-piece comprised of 13 and 14 year old girls and they rock!
We are raising funds to hire Band Coaches to keep them rockin'! Band Coaches are adult female musicians who mentor the band and help them with everything from tuning their guitars to getting to gigs.
