One of Top 5 Design Innovations of 2009 + Almost There!
The Windowfarms Project was just named one of the Top 5 Design Innovations of 2009 by Coolhunting!
With this great news comes the big challenge of LIVING UP TO THE HYPE.
Thanks to the faith of more than 200 new stakeholders, the Windowfarms Project is close to meeting the baseline budget for the first quarter of 2010. Only 4 days left to spread the word!
Let's bust out of survival mode and surpass the basic budget. Seed money from you and your friends will make the difference between this project being a short-lived FAD vs. A WELL-STRUCTURED, WELL-FUNDED MOVEMENT. In 2010, we want windowfarms to THRIVE, take over our cities' windows, develop a network with a deep personal understanding of hydroponic farming, and fill our homes with lush green crunchy vegetables farmed by our own hands!
Each $250 buys about one more day of work from a programmer, grantwriter, accountant, or from Maya for her help with the Educational initiatives. Your money goes directly to creating "green jobs" for a few people you can keep tabs on personally!
Each $500 will let the core team prototype a part for the windowfarm kits and simplify assembly for new windowfarmers. Thus, your cash has a multiplying effect, overcoming obstacles for hundreds more families to grow food at home year-round.
I am watching on Twitter as people across the country are rallying around grassroots projects at the end of this troubled year. Let's learn from the last two years and build communities of action in 2010!
