A short film to be shot in Portland, Oregon in early August of 2011.
Who am I?
My name is William Schultz and I am a Portland, Oregon based filmmaker.
What is the film about?
A typical day of work for Benjamin Peterson takes an unexpected turn for the worse when he is forced into choosing between risking his family to finish the job or doing the right thing and revealing to everyone who he really is.
In its essence Remediation is simply a short narrative about what happens to a man when he suddenly finds out his wife and child are in the bank that he and his trigger-happy partner are robbing at gunpoint. It is up to him to save his family without giving away his true identity.
What do you plan to do with it?
Along with being my senior thesis film at the Art Institute of Portland the film will also go on to debut in several festivals around the world.
How does Kickstarter work?
Kickstarter is a pledging program in which you can pledge a certain amount of money that goes towards the film. If the project does not meet it's goal then your credit card will not be charged and I won't receive a single dime. If the project does reach it's goal then your credit card will be charged at the exact amount you pledged and I will receive the money to help fund this film shortly there-after.
Why only $2,500?
I chose this goal as a bare-minimumn amount needed to rent the camera and a decent lens package for the weekend. Ideally I really need to raise upwards of about $10,000 in order to effectively take care of all the costs associated with this film.
What do you plan to use the money for?
My goal as a director and director of photography is to shoot on the right camera for the job. In my mind I see this film being shot on the Red One MX, a digital cinema camera that is used to shoot many of the high-end blockbusters you may have seen such as Spiderman, Pirates of the Caribbean, and many many more. I chose this camera not only for it's cinematic qualities but also because it will enable me to work with a format that can be processed for a film-out in the case of a film-only festival entry or showing. It will also enable me to work with a much more robust set of files giving the film a level of quality that has yet to be touched by many camera manufacturers. The money will go into renting a decent camera package, paying for production insurance, and feeding the amazing crew that will be working their hearts out on this film.
