Update #13: NEW YORK CITY PREMIERE @ BAMcinemaFest!!
CrazyExcited to announce: WELCOME TO PINE HILL's NYC FESTIVAL PREMIERE WILL BE AT BAMcinemaFest this summer!! The festival runs from June 20th through July 1st, and we'll let you know exact screening dates soon as we have them.
BAMcinemaFest has become THE NYC launchpad for American indies. This year's lineup is largely comprised of films that had their world premieres at Sundance and Cannes. (You can check out the announced lineup here.) We are extremely honored, humbled, and thrilled to share this beautiful theater with these films in THE borough that means so much to us and our film!
Also: BAM! That place is so psychotically classy and gorgeous! YouTube BAM! Freakout below for your viewing pleasure. Once more with feeling: BAM.
Update #12: PINE HILL @ Atlanta, Nashville, and Sarasota Film Festivals!
Hi Friends!
Elisabeth here. Hope all is well! Quick order of biz: By now you should've all received surveys from us (via Kickstarter) asking for info to help deliver the rewards you were promised when you pledged to PINE HILL's Kickstarter campaign. If you have any questions or need any help, email us at info@welcometopinehill.com, and we will happily assist you!
And now for the juice!: PINE HILL is doing great! The lil' film the Slamdance grand jury awarded and hailed as "poetic and emotionally honest" is about to screen at Atlanta, Nashville, and Sarasota Film Festivals (plus a few others we cannot yet publicly announce but are VERY excited about!). If you are/know anybody down South, PINE HILL screens in:
ATLANTA: Friday 3/30, 9 pm @ Landmark Midtown, click for tix: http://bit.ly/GAxyaA
NASHVILLE: Screening time TBD, Festival Dates April 19-26
SARASOTA: Wednesday 4/18, 7:30 pm + Friday, 4/20, 3:30 pm @ Regal Hollywood 20, Theater 8, click for tix: http://bit.ly/GCfMu9
Also wanted to include this sweet THIRTEEN Metro Focus interview with Keith and Shannon
As always, you can Like Us on FACEBOOK + Follow Us on TWITTER (@keith2miller / @bettyholm). We also HAVE A MAILING LIST. As Kickstarter backers you've been added to it, but we promise we won't be emailing more than once a month and unsubscribe is just a click away should you feel so inclined... ;)
THANK YOU + BIG LOVE!
Update #11: Grand Jury Prize at Slamdance!
The screenings were packed, the review in the Hollywood Reporter was great, there was a lot of press and buzz and then…
We WON THE GRAND JURY PRIZE FOR NARRATIVE FEATURE!!!
Of course, this is great super exciting news and was made possible by your participation and the hard work of the cast and crew. Everyone at Slamdance, filmmakers and staff, were really supportive, enthusiastic and great to be with. The awards felt like a party with some other great films winning awards. There was the 21 year olds (and under!) who made the audience award winning BINDLESTIFFS and the amazingly joyful and sweet HEAVY GIRLS crew.
For most of the week Lily Henderson (DP), Alex Mallis (DP), Elisabeth Holm (Producer), Russell Miller (Executive Producer), Lee Weinstein (Associate Producer), Ed David (Patron Saint of Pine Hill), Jay Sterrenberg (Meerkat and Consulting Editor), Isabell Yellin (poster design) and Henrietta Shannon (logistics) were with us and we had way too much fun. Liz’s Kickstarter party was THE BEST party in Park City and the buzz of both festivals.
We are now getting ready for what comes next, but we’re super excited for all of it.
Thanks to you and all your support. Don’t forget to LIKE the facebook page as there will be far more regular updates there.
Best,
Keith

XOXO

(PS: I have attached a photo of Keith's lil white guy mug on HuffPo right next to articles about Andrew Llyod Webber and bing drinking. First Slamdance, then BROADWAY, then liver transplant. A star is born!)
Update #9: On to Slamdance and Beyond!
Wow! 244 Backers and 171% funded. Amazing.
First off: thank you.
Second: On to SLAMDANCE!
Last night at the cast, crew and backer screening we had a really great full house (hosted by Ed David and Lily Henderson!). Shannon had never seen the movie before and as I sat with him in the front row he turned to me at the beginning and said, "Now I understand why some actors never see their own movies." By the time he left, well after the movie, the Q&A and even a bottle of champagne (Thanks Stavit!), he turned to me and said, "Really good. A lot better than I thought it could be." Angela, his fiancée, told me she was so moved by his openness she cried four times, the last time during the moving Q&A, with Adam Schartoff of Filmwax. (Alex Mallis took a lot of photos, so I hope to post them soon).
The next steps in the movie are now open and mysterious as we go to Park City and work to make as many eyes hit our screen as possible. There's a lot of traffic there, what with the other festival in town, but so far we have done really well with getting stories on websites and mentions all around and hope to keep it growing.
You are as much a part of this movie as the many cast and crew members that came last night and have been a part of it since summer 2010 and I hope your engagement with the movie continues. You already know all the stuff you can do, but central to that is caring and keeping an eye out for us.
Yours,
Keith
