First Production Update
Hey backers-
We’ve had our heads down getting production rolling and all is going well. Seeing thousands of yards of the best denim arriving from Japan never gets old!
- Markers are printed, reviewed and at the shop.
- Pocket bag material is patiently waiting to be cut.
- Labels are being woven and our custom buttons are being manufactured.
- 19 rolls of the Japan Standard were delivered on Wednesday.
- Most of the limited edition denims are in Stephen’s basement.
- The Super Heavy starts its journey from OSA -> MNL -> SFO tomorrow.
- The Regular and the American have left Cone Mills White Oak plant for San Francisco.
- 2500 leather patches are cut and waiting to be stamped. We use a waxed Italian leather from a tannery in Northern Italy, sourced in SF - here’s a video of the cutting process:

THE NATURAL INDIGO. Sanforized Japanese selvage denim, natural indigo plant dye, 13 oz weight. This unique denim comes from one of the most highly regarded mills in Japan and is no longer being run in production. Natural indigo plant dye is rarely used today and is quite pricey. The shade of this fabric is a lighter blue. We’ve used this denim before and it’s pretty sweet. Hand-numbered and signed. Same cut, same sizes, same uncompromising quality. Hey Ron-
The leather patches are punched one at a time! Those 19 rolls of Japan Standard are about 110 yards a piece - almost 40 pairs of jeans per roll.

Enjoying the production updates! 2500 leather patches punched 2 at a time. That's a lot of cuts! 19 rolls of the Japan Standard selvedge. How many yards of denim is on one roll? Or maybe it would be easier to visualize the volume of denim per roll if expressed as approximately how many pairs of jeans can be cut from one roll?

Love the update. Notice at the background on the photo of the roll of denim, there are two Chinese scrolls for Chinese New Year, the right one means "May all your wishes come true", I think it did. Congrats..
