Lurker, did you have a chance to check out the sci-fi story project? It turns out Bashar is also experimenting with community-based editing, and the results of that experiment could be interesting in regards to your own sci-fi-ish writing project
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/647049806/derelict-a-short-story/comments…
I know you have a lot of friends who would be happy to help out in a similar manner, but the question is how well crowd-editing can work compared to an experienced editor...

Since we're venturing into non-game projects, I'll suggest those who (literally) have a spare dollar could check out a sci-fi short story project by a fellow adventure game fan:

Stacy; you bet! Dogonauts is pretty endearing, and I love the claymation look.
speedster, actually I was more of an MoO guy, myself, but I kicked in a bit over there to help them make it happen. Seems to have a vaguely tabletop/minis feel to it, which I like. Looks pretty certain, at this point, that they'll reach their day-1 Linux/Mac goal (w/PayPal funds, they're ~£500 away w/8hrs left & Europe waking soon).

OK looks like the Kickstarter app lets you post comments all you want, unless it's to your own project page. The little box where the little reply arrow is supposed to be, at the top-right, is gone. Anybody know if I'm missing something?
BTW guys, the stop motion animator who inspired me to build the workshop and do all this has his own kickstarter up now, to finish his newest project: a 3D stop motion short made by he, his wife, and basically his whole family over the last 4 years... in his garage. It's awesome. Plus, there's space ships & aliens. He's been a CG animator for years, working for places like Konami, and a few years back he and his wife made their first short "Gerald's Last Day" which won tons of awards. Then he actually got a gig on the animation team for Paranorman! There's actually time-lapse of him animating characters on the Paranorman DVD behind-the-scenes. Anyway, check it out, watch their bio video, and please spread the word if you like what you see. These guys have the coolest, most creative family ever and deserve a stellar kickstarter for sure! It's called "DOGONAUTS!" http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2131064235/dogonauts-enemy-line

@speedster. Good idea mentioning it here. Also, if they reach the latest stretch goal (less than 5,000 away) Linux will be released at the same time as PC. ;-)

@speedster: was repairable, and has been repaired. Mine is not nearly five years old (yet). No big fan of i-devices myself either. I prefer to stay with the niche market I have (Linux), and not enter another one. :-) I have also noticed several current LCD/LED-screens that have a higher inch-dimension but are actually lower than my current one. I don't watch (HD) movies on my laptop(s), but am so totally against streaming or downloading them as such (even if legal) either so I go buying them on disc and watching them on my (big) tv-screen. So, those lower screens would also definitely hamper my browser window height-'policy'.

Palindrome Bob, is it repairable or do you need to pick out a new laptop? Mine is five or so years old, and I'm not looking forward to needing a new one -- dislike the super thin trend that Apple has brought upon us, those stupid skinny cases do not have enough room for DVD drives or a respectable assortment of ports.
Then there are the stupid short LCD screens -- manufacturers call them "wide" screens but they always end up losing height and area :(
My 15" 4:3 display would need to be replaced by a 17" 16:10 display or 18.4" 16:9 display in order to fit the same height of browser window! Clearly the typical new 15" laptop is going to be a step down for my laptop usage, which involve mostly coding and reading rather than watching HD movies

@Bob... We might be able to do two days, but that is stretching based on my linear equation for Jack Houston. ;-)
Creator Palindrome Bob-XSF-I'm in AGL589-AK666 on March 26
@Dax: I see about every OS there is in the MMO-graph, bar the one that's really important (to me and a couple of other JH backers): Linux.
Also: the "original Ecco the Dolphin team" is nowhere to be seen in my memory and from what I read in their project with reason, so no, I'm not going there.

@speedster: I don't make distinctions based between the different KS's I'm in/on, so thank you for making clear to me Riggo's interpretation differs from mine and let's keep it at that. Further, I only make a comment when I have something to say, so when my latest comment is the last one it is extremely unlikely I will make another.
@Riggo: is two days acceptable? :-P

@Speedster... Thanks for enlightening Bob on this issue. :-)

My interpretation is that 4 days of inactivity is not acceptable for Jack Houston comments -- Riggo may have some sophisticated method of calculating allowable periods of silence based on project attributes
Creator Palindrome Bob-XSF-I'm in AGL589-AK666 on March 22
@Riggo: You're probably not a backer on other projects I'm on then, because some of them have an even longer time between comments since they finished (long ago, I'd like to add).
