About Reflections...:We are honored to collaborate with Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington DC on our fall project, Reflections: Plays from Saint Elizabeths Hospital. After we toured our production of Twelfth Night there last fall, a company member proposed that we form a stronger relationship with the Hospital and collaborate on a larger project. During June & July five individuals in care at Saint Elizabeths have been taking a playwriting group. The result will be ten-minute plays on the themes of recovery, overcoming adversity, and hope. In August a team of professional artists from DC will rehearse the plays and then present them at the 10th Annual Page-to-Stage Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. A special Opening Night will take place at Saint Elizabeths Hospital. Throughout October, Wandering Souls will tour the plays for free at the communities with which we've established relationships over the past two years: homeless shelters, retirement homes, schools, and programs for at-risk youth. There will also be a handful of public performances. We see Reflections: Plays from Saint Elizabeths Hospital as a pilot project. We intend to bring the same great experience to other communities in the DC area.
About Saint Elizabeths Hospital:
Saint Elizabeths Hospital is the State psychiatric facility for the District of Columbia. The Hospital serves women and men with mental disorders who require hospitalization to facilitate their continuing recovery and return to the community. This is achieved through development of personalized treatment plans and services tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals in care. Saint Elizabeths also trains health and mental health clinicians and students who work with mental health consumers to provide compassionate and optimal care. Learn more about St Elizabeths
About Wandering Souls:
At the core of our mission is a belief that the arts can fuel our imagination, encourage our personal growth and help unite individuals and communities. Yet, the richness of the arts is often considered a luxury. By bringing stripped-down, high quality, energetic performances to those who have little or no access we hope to break down that misconception.
With this project we enter our third year of touring performances for free to DC's homeless shelters, senior residences and school age outreach programs. In addition, each tour also includes a handful of free public performances.
With each of our projects we hope to open the channels of communication and community with the goal of using the power of the arts to help build a stronger relationship with all of our neighbors.

I am an actor who wanted to shake things up and find a way to use my love of the arts and my desire to be more involved in my community so...I became the Artistic Director and co-founder for an arts outreach company called Wandering Souls.
Based in Washington DC and heading into our 3rd season it's been a dream figuring out how to make it all work.
