Creation of a Victorian Parlor Theatre  with evenings of Magical Enchantment

“Astonishment! Magical Tales of San Francisco” a slightly different version called “Eccentrics of San Francisco’s Barbary Coast” had a successful four-month run in 2009 with a cast of four. Each performance was more than two-thirds full, and there were a great many sold-out shows in the intimate thirty-seat theatre we created. The production was very well received by reviewers and the public.

It’s been my dream to use that success and experience to re-open with a one-person version. The show brings alive my city’s colorful past and the eccentric characters who made San Francisco what she is today. Presenting story vignettes, each is illustrated with stage-magic pieces. I’m excited at the opportunity to bring this show to a public venue for Bay Area neighbors and out of town visitors to San Francisco.

The venue is in the charming, vintage (1914) Chancellor Hotel on Union Square, where I transform their restaurant space into an intimate turn-of-the-century thirty five seat Parlor Theatre. I will perform the show three or four evenings each week during the Holiday Season of October, November, and December.

The bulk of the investment would be in crucial marketing and public relations efforts, I will augment the budget to procure necessary props, set pieces, and costumes.
