As I'm still waiting for my WakaWaka Power. I Discovered LuminAID. WOW! I order a dozen (12) of these cause they will come in handy during emergency. Its a Solar Power Light that is waterproof.
Thought I share this find with everyone here. Best price (w/ shipping) is from their website, plus included in your purchase is a donation of a Luminade to a non profit, and sent to those in need in third world countries and disaster areas.

Ok, since shipping have begun last monday, we should see some people receiving their Power very soon. Have you received something yet?
Creator Vish 4 days ago
Will we be getting the tracking number for the package once mailed?
Creator decoy 4 days ago
He team waka waka.
Thx for the update and your hard work. Please be sure there are no problems with the german customs (no missing documents, no missing CE-Sign etc) when sending the wakawaka to germany. I backed the pebble smartwatch and now my pebble is spending his life down in an infinite bureaucratic loop anywhere in a closet at german customs :-(

G'day mate
Sorry to be a dummy, but how do I edit my address to receive at ?? It has been a little while since the survey !
Cheers,
Todd

Hi Camille,
Adding $14 dollars to ship outside the US is a big uplift; but no problem. Discovering that shipments are also done from The Netherlands and still charing the same $14 for EU and even NL domestic(!) deliveries is outrageous.

Anyone receive their WakaWaka yet? If so, please list your state or country.
Creator Bobby Frohlich 7 days ago
Just curious if there was a picture of the green waka waka power (production not render). Thank you!
Creator Joakim Elm 7 days ago
Keep up the good work Camille!!
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 14
@ Janardan When did I talked about delays? (I backed Pebble, so I kind of know about patience ;-) My points have always been about communication of news here before we learn about them all over the place!
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 14
@Camille I'm not criticizing the fact that you are doing the things that you do, but that you explain them to us after the fact and that you don't update us much.
Creator Camille van Gestel on May 14
Hi all! We have indeed started shipping yesterday, we are working as fast as we can and expect most of your WakaWaka Powers to arrive within the next week!
@ Chris Porter, Check out some of the new pictures here: http://waka-waka.com/products/
@ Lee Wetzler, I hope so but thats really hard to say, we are shipping out more than 7000 packages to backers all over the world.
@ Marie-Andree Poisson, Thanks again for all your valuable input, we are are indeed handing out some review units to journalist. We really hope this help the sales once the Power comes on the market, remember that the proceeds made from selling WakaWaka products in the West at competitive prices, are used to make them available to off-grid communities around the world!
@ Janardan Nathan, thanks for helping out! :D
Creator Janardan Nathan on May 14
@Marie-Andree Poisson: Patience is a virtue. This is a product worth waiting for.
Compared to other projects, the WakaWaka Power has not had any significant delays or "Silence".
@Allen Simmons: Please scroll down the page and read what Camille van Gestel has graciously posted.

According to Facebook they began shipping today.
Creator Allen Simmons on May 12
Why is the item available in retail stores before the Kickstarter orders are fulfilled?
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 12
It seems that PR company is distributing them to journalists, bloguers, etc. again, we should have known this before, not after the fact.
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 12
"I've only had my @wakawakalight Power unit for a few days, but I'm already impressed. Small, light, powerful, convenient. #solar" - @derekmarkham

Silence again?
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 9
@Lee Shipping is suppose to begin mid-may (see last update on this). So ...
Creator Lee Wetzler on May 9
I am leaving for Cuba next Friday and was hoping to bring this to give to a colleague, any chance it will get to me before then?
Creator Chris Porter on May 8
Can you post pictures of the final production model?
Creator Stan Abe on May 7
Yippee. I live in Cali. I should get mine close to the ship date. Can't wait!
Creator Camille van Gestel on May 7
Thanks all!
@Stan Abe, there's two shipping points worldwide, one in California and one in the Netherlands.
@Tomaso Munari, yes you are probably right, thing is we wanted to wait with the update until we had a definitive shipping date.
Creator Chris Porter on May 6
I have a nice eight foot window in my office waiting for its WakaWaka.
Creator Tomaso Munari on May 3
Well, thank you for the last updates and I am very happy about the outcome and perspectives of the project.
Just my 2c:
the fact the wakawaka was on sale before pledgers and supporters received it, it wasn't nice but your explanation on the logistics of "pumped up KS wakawaka" was reasonable.
What was a complete fumble was the fact you hadn't posted it before pledgers discovered and wrote about it in the comments.
Point is: communicating not only solves but, best of all, prevents problems and incomprehension.
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 3
Nice work Camille. Your last update is excellent!
Creator Stan Abe on May 3
You may have answered this question already. Where are the two shipping locations in the US? I just wanted to know how far the unit is being shipped from so I can get an idea of how long it will take. BTW. I am so pleased to hear of the humanitarian efforts you are making around the world and I am glad to be a backer of your efforts. Keep up the good works!
Creator Camille van Gestel on May 3
Hi guys, @Marie-Andree @Paul @Michel you where absolutely right an update about shipping and the online sales was due. We had to wait a little before we could give the ETA, but now its there! Thanks for your input, it is always appreciated!

To Mr Camille van Gestel and the WakaWaka,
Thank you for the swift and very detailed explanations.
It is obvious that you have put much thought behind your decisions and actions, which I respect.
It is not often that we come across individuals such as yourselves, who are deeply concerned with helping others. We often encounter Kickstarter Campaigns, where the project creator vanishes once the campaign is over, making a quick buck.
It's wonderful to know that in pledging for this campaign, the backers have managed to bring some measurable positive change in this world.
I can't wait for my WakaWaka power to reach!
Warmest Regards
Janardan
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 2
By the way, here what WakaWaka respond to me on Facebook : "Hi Marie-Andrée Poisson The WakaWaka Power's ordered via Kickstarter will be shipped out in the next two weeks. Is that the news you are looking for?"
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 2
Well, having very low expectations may be the secret ;-)
Creator Kyle Caulfield on May 2
This is the best project I have ever backed... everything else has failed.
Creator Michel on May 1
@Camille
It is very disappointing to worry about our KS projects status/updates and to browse each of them then scroll through the comments to find the expected update. Please make an Update not a Comment: we are notified of the former not of the later.
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on May 1
"I have been travelling around the past 2 weeks [...] and neglected you guys a bit. I will be around! so do feel free to approach me with any questions you have.".
So, there are already a couple of comments in here that need your intervention Camille.
Creator Paul Gomez on April 30
I am a little disappointed that I have to come searching for an update in the comments sections to find a solution to my concerns.
I agree with the previous comments that we are not simply customers, you want to change the world in a small way for the better, and we, your backers want to be a small part of that with you. You never have to ask our permission to do something, however a quick update, would go over much better then an after the fact explanation.
You could fast track a million units for people that truly need them if you want to, or distribute the consumer model to the world, most would understand, if we knew what was going on at least with the rest of the world, but preferably before. It all adds to the experience, i think.
An ETA update would be greatly appreciated, as I think I saw first half of May, then a vague reference to the month of May as a ship date.
Creator andrew paik on April 30
thanks camille for the comment. i came across https://grandst.com/p/wakawakapower and was shocked to see that they had the waka waka power in stock and ready to ship.
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on April 29
And to add on what Pisan said, it would be good if you could add an approximation of when we should expect shipping to backers to begin.
Creator Pisan Kulkaew on April 29
Camille, despite arriving a little late, that was a good explanation. We're proud to be part of this campaign and that is why we are backers and not simply 'customers'.
A suggestion though, you should put what you just posted as an update.
Creator brett wiliford on April 29
Thanks for the explanation and keeping us in the loop.
Creator Camille van Gestel on April 29
Hi Everyone, first and foremost I would like to apologize for anyone who feels offended in any way. Allow me to explain to you.
We have offered 25% extra battery capacity, which is actually the maximum available capacity our battery supplier is capable of delivering within the available dimensions of the WakaWaka Power. This battery is actually custom build for us, especially for our backers. It is not an 'off the shelf' battery as we initially offered and which Fab.com is offering (the regular 2200 mAh capacity). It takes a bit longer to manufacture this.
With Fab.com (and next up is Amazon) we are testing the market with a limited nr of units. It is not anywhere near the thousands of units which have been ordered by you guys. If successful, we may expect a lot more from them and hopefully you can respect that we had to jump on this opportunity. We had to fasttrack some initial production units for this purpose actually.
Actually, I would like to share some more news with you. Last December we were approached by a major international emergency relief organization (which name I am not at liberty to share at this point, but they are well known and respected). They asked us how soon we could fast track production for some 5,000 WakaWaka Powers for Syrian refugees, on the run for the regime and the war crimes. We had to keep this silent until recently these units landed in the South of Turkey and have by now finally found their way to 5,000 Syrian families, providing light and power for their mobile phones, so they can stay in touch with family back home. I sincerely hope you take no offence in the fact that we did everything within our power to utilize the maximum of the preliminary production capacity for this special and most urgent request. In the beginning of a new production run, capacity is usually limited since workers need to get routines down. We are very proud to be able to share with you that YOUR SUPPORT has enabled us to do this actually.
Also we have a whole plan in place for the distribution of some 12,000 WakaWaka Lights to Haitian families through app. 20 NGO's on the island. Brightening the lives of ... (hold on to your chair...) 60,000 people! You Backers, accomplished this in just one month time! The WakaWaka Lights (without USB charger) are almost finished and will be on their way shortly. The Haitian President Martelly and his Prime Minister mr. Lamothe are aware of what we're doing and have a sample of the WakaWaka Light in their office (of course). These 12,000 units will be packaged locally as part of a pilot assembly line and we are thrilled with the attention this is getting from top government officials. Now we hope of course they will support it further in order to help raise awareness about the benefits of solar light in Haïti so we may build many MANY more WakaWaka's in Haïti and create more jobs to assemble them locally while generating more livelihood and economic development as WakaWaka helps families stretch their day for more than 3 hours.... !
Finally, as to the price of the WakaWaka Power online, once again, you are getting much (MUCH) more value for money than Fab is offering, since you are backers of the first hour. Also we try our utmost to maintain a minimum advertising price with customers, but we have to allow for some flexibility with regard to promotions of any kind. It is illegal actually to enforce a universal end user price.
I would like to thank Imouchoum, Raymund, Janardan, Pisan, Marie-Andree and Dawn for your comments on this subject.
I have been travelling around the past 2 weeks talking to the UN, UN Foundation, Clinton Global Initiative, BilionRising.org about putting WakaWaka further on the global map and neglected you guys a bit. I will be around! so do feel free to approach me with any questions you have.
Your Powers are nearly finished! We will keep our May delivery promise, so hang in there, it won't be long now!
Warm wishes and talk soon
Camille
Creator lmouchoum on April 29
totally agree with you Mr. Janardan Nathan
Creator Raymund R DeAsis on April 29
Ah, perhaps we backers are getting our rewards later due to the extra features that are implemented to our particular items. (e.g. The extra battery capacity and waterproof pouch)
Creator Janardan Nathan on April 29
I meant no offense to Mr Camille van Gestel and the WakaWaka, especially since they have helped to bring light to many Haitians.
It's just that if would have been nicer if he had provided an update to us backers first and released the link to http://fab.com/sale/20599/product/383240/ . This would allow us backers to have a clearer understanding behind the rationale of "selling" the WakaWaka Power to the public before the Kickstarter Backers have received them.
Warmest Regards
Janardan
Creator Janardan Nathan on April 29
I cannot belief that the WakaWaka POWER is being sold at $65 (fab price) which is below the $69 price that 664 backers pledged! This is bad :(
http://fab.com/sale/20599/product/383240/
Under fab.com Shipping info it states "Estimated Arrival: 9 - 18 Days".
But we backers have not been notified or updated on when we will receive our WakaWaka Power.
Mr Camille van Gestel, You owe us backers an explanation please.
Creator Pisan Kulkaew on April 28
I second Marie-Andree on this. No transparent updates to backers and the product got sold at a cheaper price than what backers have paid, AS WELL AS getting it delivered before kickstarter backers? (FAB noted 13-22 day delivery)
Any clarifications and necessary fix would be much appreciated.
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on April 28
Even at a lower special price than a lot of backers have paid! Well ...
Creator Dawn Griffith on April 28
I just saw the WakaWaka Power is listed on FAB today. I was surprised to see a third party selling them before backers receive the units.
Creator Marie-Andree Poisson on April 27
@Ian I suppose that contacting them directly withe your new address should do the trick
Creator Ian Cremona on April 27
Hello, I am an international backer who changed address since my backing a that was made months ago! How can I update my details? Thanks
