Two brothers return home for a chilly birthday weekend with their parents when one unexpected spark causes an emotional brush fire.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

A family gathers on a wintery weekend in the bucolic Berkshires to celebrate a father's birthday, when all the best intentions can't surmount an onerous family history that has left old wounds unhealed—and opened new ones.  A gorgeous script, KINDLING will be performed by a talented and proven cast of four and scored by the award-winning composer Todd Almond.

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR...

I couldn't be more excited to direct this film with this fantastic script and an immensely talented, experienced and creative team of artists. Our story is a small but universal one about the search for forgiveness in the midst of a destructive family dynamic. We are bringing so many resources to the table and shooting this nano-budget short with enormous economy.  Our $7,500 film will feel like a $25,000 film. Your dollars will go a long way.  If you become a backer and help us share this story, you will forever be an important part of our team. I am intent on taking this film to Sundance 2013, giving it a worldwide festival run, and giving all involved professional traction in the film world—including you!

FAQ

  • Will you be submitting to film festivals across the country?

    Of course! That expense is not part of our Kickstarter campaign, however. The funding from fantastic supporters like you cover our very minimal production costs. We are vigilant in our quest to create the best possible outcome with great equipment and talent. The film festival circuit (and ultimately recognition/awards) is something we will navigate on our own once post production is complete. Based on the pre-production rehearsals and ideas that are beginning to solidify, we are very excited about the buzz around this film and it's creative team, cast and crew. Expect great things!

  • Is this a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) film?

    Yes. All four actors (Steve, Carolyn, Glenn & VP) are proud members of SAG and are working under an approved SAG Short Film Agreement for KINDLING. This agreement covers short films with budgets less than $50K and under 35 minutes.
