Update #3: Thank you to all my supporters!
Kickstarter was a wonderful success. I am so grateful for the generous outpouring of kind wishes. Thank you to everyone for their support, without which we could not make this project happen. We have now recorded Glimpses and now are in the middle of making final edits to send to Naxos. I will have more updates as time goes on, however the CD is slated to be released in September 2012. Metropolis Ensemble and I will have a launch party in New York, so stay tuned for more news.

Hi Everyone - Thank you to the tremendous showing of support - we have successfully launched our campaign and are a little closer to our goal. Conor Hanick (pictured above) and I just had a rehearsal last night of "Glimpses," and I know that Conor will be tremendous - he has some wonderful ideas for the work, and has the chops to back it up! Our recording session will be next week, so stay tuned.

Vivian Fung has distinguished herself as a composer with a unique and powerful compositional voice. Since earning her doctorate from The Juilliard School in 2002, she has forged her own approach often merging western forms with non-Western influences such as Balinese and Javanese gamelan and folk songs from minority regions of China. The New York Times has described her work as "evocative," and The Strad hails her Uighur-influenced music to be "as vital as encountering Steve Reich or the Kronos for the first time." Chicago Tribune recently described Fung‘s Yunnan Folk Songs as conveying "a winning rawness that went beyond exoticism." Vivian has several new commissions for 2011-2012.
