Zombie Vixens from Hell, The Musical!

is coming to get you! Los Angeles playwright John Byrd has once again teamed up with the Bay Area's Virago Theatre Company to create a sexy, shocking, and hilarious musical with a live band and visual imagery that is like nothing you've seen before. Vixens will welcome you into the theater, hook you up with a libation, and bring you on stage if you’re not careful. 

Virago needs $2500 to create sleek and stunning multi-media effects using video and digital imagery for the production, creating seamless scene transitions with graphic-novel style images and video, heightening our perception of reality.

To create these effects, Virago needs your support to rent an enhanced state of the art digital image projection system, collaborate with an artist to create the imagery, blend it into the show and produce a campy pre-show Zombie flick written by Mankind’s Last Hope playwright and the creator of Cecil Vortex, Dan Brodnitz.

Mr. Byrd wrote Virago hits The Death of Ayn Rand in 2007 and The Hermit Bird in 2009. Byrd's unique and twisted point of view as a writer and utter charm as a person make him an ideal playwright for Virago's visionary directors.

Zombies introduces us to Agnes, a mousy yet strikingly intelligent lab assistant who is destined to unleash a contagion upon the world, causing men to open their hearts and brains to their ladies who for God’s sake just want a tasty snack.

Zombies once again pairs the creativity of playwright Byrd and Virago Resident Director Robert Lundy-Paine. Virago was looking to produce a sexy, flamboyant comedy, when Lundy-Paine called Bryd and suggested they create their own. Byrd flew at the idea and was off and running to create The Great American Campy Comedy.

Lundy-Paine is the director of some of Virago’s most successful and daring artistic endeavors, including Mankind’s Last Hope, a zany multimedia trip into the future, La Boheme, set in San Francisco, and the critically acclaimed Orphans, staged in a filthy warehouse. He once again steps into the director's chair to collaborate on this sexy new story.

THE ZOMBIE TEAM

Along with Robert Lundy-Paine directing, Zombies welcomes Katy Stephan as Musical Director. Katy is a skilled composer and singer; you can catch her live at such San Francisco venues as Red Poppy Art House and The Bottlecap. The talented David Manley, Virago's Musical Director for our 2008 production of Candide, returns as our band director.  Lisa Bush-Finn, professional dancer and frequent featured performer with Nina Haft and Company, will choreograph. Elle Ghini, the dynamic lighting designer of Virago's Madama Butterfly joins us once again.  Zipporah Ross, creator and owner of ZipporahsAmulet brings her bold artistry to us as costume designer, and noted San Francisco/Bay Area zombie make-up artist Mish Belmares brings her awesome talent to us.
