About This Project
Virago Theatre Company needs $3500 to bring the world premiere of Jon Brooks’ Shoot O’Malley Twice to the newly restored StageWerx 446 in the Mission District of San Francisco. Alternate realities and baseball meet predestination wrapped around a child’s game in this fast-paced, mind-bending new comedy by Bay Area playwright Jon Brooks!
The $3500 will be used toward the cost of the production’s technical elements in order to create a shabby hotel room in New York City, circa 1957: period costumes, hair, and make-up, original sound design by Ryan Lee Short, and special effects to create two alternate universes in this fast-paced, existentially comic production.

About Virago Theatre Company & Playwright Jon Brooks
Jon Brooks has established himself as a playwright to watch, with productions in the Bay Area, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Indiana, San Francisco, and Bologna, Italy. He has written for the Tony Award-winning SF Mime Troupe and has been a regularly featured playwright in the annual Bay One Acts Festival in San Francisco. The SF Bay Times called his "Catcher in the Rye, Cancelled” a "riotous parody."
Virago Theatre Company is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization and was founded in 2005 with the goal of creating productions with unconventional, inventive staging and a collaborative rehearsal process. We support new works and focus on new play development. Guided by our dedication to produce provocative and passionate theatre, we select works that address issues of psychological and social turbulence and have a unique and at times bizarre perspective on our daily existence.
A production of Shoot O’Malley Twice in San Francisco takes Virago into new territory, bringing this existentially comic World Premiere to the heart of the Mission District. Please give so we can give this production the technical support it truly deserves! All donations are tax deductible.
