Hello and thank you for visiting our project.  With your help, we would like to finalize the development of our TekPillow idea so that we can provide the world with the most comfortable and safest way to use their tablet computers and eReaders.  

The TekPillow was created when my son conceived of a great way to use his Apple iTouch - he went over to his grandmother's house and had her help him make a small pillow and then sew his plastic case to the pillow so it wouldn't fall off. He could then rest it easier on any surface and toss it around the room without worry.  His simple and genius idea inspired us to develop this into a larger product for the growing trend of touchscreen tablets and eReaders, which aren't always the easiest things to hold onto and manipulate.  Our iPad is very fragile and makes us all nervous when handling it. We use it mostly at home and like to leave it laying around on the couch and coffee table. It really makes sense to have it attached to a pillow.  Now, with our TekPillow, we can just rest it in our laps at the perfect angle and not have to hold it when using it. It is extremely stable - a lot more stable than any other cases that are out there with kickstands. And now it is safe just to toss it back onto the coffee table when we are done with it. 

We tested out many different types of pillows - different sizes, different shapes, different stuffing material, different fabrics (we also tried making pillows, but quickly gave up when those microbeads came out and stuck to everything they came near!).  We also tested many different techniques for holding the tech cases to the pillow (velcro, straps, snaps, sleeves, etc.) The problem - the case needs to hold the device, while still providing access to all its ports, make it easy to still be able to remove the device, protect the device and be secure against the pillow. On top of all that - it has to be easy to manufacture. For the prototypes, we decided to go with pre-made pillow and cases, and we hand sewed the corners of the cases to the pillows.

We are still exploring new case designs so that they will be compatible or adjustable for the many different types of devices. We are also considering making the case holder ourselves with a number of possible designs in the works - thereby eliminating the need to purchase pre-made products and assembling/modifying the components.  The funding from this project will allow us to finalize a design and find a manufacturer for most of these pieces. 

We applied for a patent and are looking forward to marketing this cool idea to the hip and high-tech users of computer tablets and eReaders. We think our design (soft spandex tube pillow with polystyrene beads) is the best and most comfortable way to go. We just hope we can make TekPillows fast enough to keep up with the demand.

Sure, it seems like an obvious idea - and everyone that uses one absolutely loves it.  But I still think it is going to take some good marketing and some valuable word of mouth from people like you who will be using it and experiencing the obvious benefits of its use.
