About this project
Plugged In, a non-profit teen band program based in Needham, MA, is supporting two of Zimbabwe’s hottest young bands tour of the US in August/September 2010. “Outspoken and the Essence”—one of the country's most cutting-edge hip-hop groups— and international touring band, “Bongo Love” – Zimbabwean Afro-coustics-style at its best -- will soon take the stage together to launch their joint “Speak ZimLove Tour 2010” USA tour. Coming from a country of extreme human rights violations and rampant poverty, these young African musicians will bring their message of hope and activism through music and poetry at a time when American audiences are becoming more aware than ever of the plight of their African brothers and sisters.
We are raising funds to pay for air tickets, as well as production of both bands' albums. We need more than the $2,000 we're set as our goal, but we are used to doing things on a shoestring budget and will make this tour happen! We invite you to be part of the magical effort to help these two groups realize this tour.
Both groups have toured the USA in the past and have delighted audiences from coast-to-coast. We know you will be touched by the magic that follows these guys and their music that reaches people half a world away from where they created it!
