About this project
Training for the Apocalypse
Premiering Early 2012
Chronicling survivalists, truth-seekers and prophets united in their preparations for global cataclysm and the near-extinction of humanity as they struggle to make sense of the world they live in now.
At the center of the film are three very different men: a well-armed pioneer searching for true independence, a polarizing Bible prophet warning his flock of nuclear Armageddon, and a new father still learning from his own childhood of urban poverty and sadistic abuse; now committed to preparing others to survive anything the world throws at them.
The resulting film is an honest, disturbing and often humorous journey that among other things explores how to keep your 30-year old bomb shelter from collapsing, how to make an emergency water filter in the wilderness, and just what exactly Mayan shaman elders believe is going to happen in 2012. Along the way TFA also investigates a deeper story about love, belonging, and the strange universal appeal of believing that one's generation will be the last.
Your donations will go directly and immediately to costs to complete the international festival / broadcast cut.
TFA is now in fine cut 2.9 stage, rapidly evolving from good, to the fabled and elusive "great".
FAQ
-
Nope, but there are lots of big shots and magnificent small shots like us utilizing Kickstarter to advance their independent efforts in collaboration with their loving friends and networks.
-
We made one flat rate US pre-sale with the network we coincidentally loved the very most for this, so we're ecstatic. Since we've been funded only by our own cash and endless unpaid labor plus one $5k grant and one sale, we still have plenty of catching up to do.
-
Re: the whole world, we're very optimistic about almost everything being OK one day. Re: the documentary, $7700 was the figure we wanted to request of our friends and associates who can afford to pitch in with any small contribution that won't hurt them while supporting a good cause and getting some fairly-priced services, artwork, survival supplies and high-quality clothing.
-
Please don't! And try to enjoy the time with your mom while you can, you'll probably miss her after you grow up and move away. If you can just help spread the word to anyone who might want to check us out, we'd be so grateful, you could probably crash at our place for awhile.
-
We advise that the first and most important way to ensure your survival in any situation is to keep a calm, clear and open mind. In this state one might even help prevent a cataclysm from occurring in the first place.
