About this project

Now that you've watched the film and discovered what "Up the Hill" is about (power, verbal jousting, fancy hair pieces, champagne, pandering, and general mischief), we thought you should know what the show isn't about.

"Up the Hill" isn't about picking political sides. It has no desire to advocate one partisan preference over another. Instead, the show is interested in human interaction--the good, the bad, and the foolish.

Our goal is simple: we want to make you laugh and consider politics, social justice, and power from a slightly different angle than the talking heads and politicos who dominate the airwaves.

Your generous donations will allow us to shoot the last two acts of the pilot episode (the first act has been shot--see below for some film stills!), turn the raw footage over to post-production wizards (aka, Editors), and then submit the finished product to a handful of television festivals, later this summer.

Thanks again for considering our project--and if you choose to donate, make sure to check out our forth-coming messages that will include more information (think: websites, more photos, and behind-the-scenes info) about "Up the Hill."

Sincerely,

Crystal

P.S. International backers, in order to cover the cost of shipping, please add: $3 to your pledge of $25 and up - $10 to your pledge of $65 and up - $15 to your pledge of $85 and up.

A few notes about Kickstarter:

While many of you are probably pretty familiar with how the site works, here's a brief run-down:

Kickstarter is a flat-out amazing way for independent artists to raise funds. But there is a catch: unless we meet our goal, we don't get to keep one red cent.

Can we raise over our goal?

Absolutely! And, it goes without saying, but... we hope we do!

What happens when I click that ominous "Donate" button?

EVERYTHING. And...nothing. Kickstarter uses Amazon as a sort of holding cell for your money. If our project is successful, your card will be charged your desired donation level. And, if our project doesn't reach its goal, you keep your cash.

If you don't have an Amazon account, what are you waiting for? Seriously, guys...how do you do your Christmas shopping?

Will my donation be made public?

Nope. Donor names and correlating donations are in no way broadcast. Yay for privacy! Your name will appear on our list of acknowledgments at the end of the pilot, though.

How do the rewards work?

Think of these rewards as way better than a fancy (and forgettable) $250-a-plate dinner for some politician you only halfheartedly support. Think of them as our way of saying "Thank you so much for entrusting us with your dollars! We promise to never get embroiled in a scandal, make promises we can't keep, or act like we don't need you once we're up and running." Once you choose to donate, you become our partners, and we aim to do good by you. In the meantime, here's a luxuriously soft t-shirt and a rockin' new grocery bag, and a thought-provoking book.

Anyway...

Assuming our project is successful, we will immediately begin the process of shipping tees and totes and books, but for those of you who pledge at the DVD level and above, a little more patience will be required. Why? Well, while we're flattered to think you can't wait to get your hot paws on our footage, or race out to LA to join us for festivities, the editing process and the screenings all happen after we finish shooting. Which means some of your rewards will get to you before others.

What if I have additional questions?

Getting in contact with us is simple: You can either post your query in the "Comments" section, or click on the project creator's name, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks again for checking us out. Now please, tell all your friends about us.
