Update #10: Just in time for Spirit Day...

Posted on October 20, 2011

Wow!

Just in time for GLAAD's Spirit Day, Robin E. Kaplan sent over an email with the final version of her The Color Purple-inspired print!

So we knew that was coming any day, but she also included an adorable little surprise: an early version of ANOTHER print, this one inspired by the oft-challenged children's book, And Tango Makes Three! The children's book about two male penguins at the Central Park Zoo has been THE most frequently challenged book four of the last five years for its supposed "anti-ethnic, anti-family, and homosexual" content because (gasp!) it dares to imply that a  same-sex pair of critters could be in love and raise a baby.

Remember, if you pledge at least $25, you can select one of these prints for your very own!

Update #9: New Preview of Robin E Kaplan's Print!

Posted on October 6, 2011

So remember three long days ago when we gave you a sneak peek at the early sketch of Robin E Kaplan's The Color Purple-inspired piece? Well, we had another little surprise waiting in the inbox last night: a still-not-quite-finished update of the piece! Once again, pledges of at least $25 will have this as an option...

In addition to the $100 rewards, you'll receive a copy of "Americus," the new-ish graphic novel from MK Reed and Jonathan Hill! Fittingly enough, "Americus" tells the tale of Neal Barton, a small-town kid dealing with the fact that a group of locals want to ban his favorite fantasy series. See the connection? And because you'll no doubt want to stay up all night reading "Americus" once you crack it open, we're including another reward at this level: one 750 ml bottle of Black Blood of the Earth (aka "Weapons Grade Coffee"). Quite possibly the work of the Devil himself, this concoction contains roughly 40x as much caffeine as your typical cup o' joe. You can read all about on the Funranium Labs site: http://www.funraniumlabs.com/the-black-blood-of-the-earth/bbote-faq/
