Update #13: The new project is 65% funded!
Don't forget to back this if you were backing the first project!
Update #12: The NEW Kickstarter is UP!
With much better rewards! I learned a lot from the feedback I got on the previous project, and so without further ado:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/upgradeindustries/boardx-the-open-source-miniature-motherboard-redem
There's also a new add-on: a wireless XBee serial radio! The add-on supports all the variants including Pro. These babies support mesh networking, AES encryption, addressing, kilometer ranges and much much more.
Even if you had previously pledged just a few dollars and didn't get anything as a reward, check what's available this time around because it could get you something!
Update #11: A new project will be launched shortly!
Hey everybody! I've tweaked my plans and decided to try again, a few changes:
- Better rewards, plain and simple. I've realized that I have more to offer, and I'm going to REALLY make it worth your while. Here's an example of how you can get more, for less: $35 will get you Five (5) BARE Add-on PCBs, with complete parts lists to build yourself: AVR-X, FRAM-X, XBee-X, ADC-X, PROTO-X
- A new add-on! The XBee-X radio add-on is now thrown into the mix, so your projects can be wireless connected.
- Add-on PCBs - want to do it yourself? Now you can get a parts list and PCB for all the add-ons!
- Lower threshold, at 25% of my previous goal, I'll be assembling a lot more of these by hand, but now that it's something I plan on, I can begin immediately.
- Shorter deadline - this project ends sooner, so you get your boards just a little bit later than you would have if the first attempt succeeded.
I'll be launching the new project shortly and will send out another message with the link!
Update #10: 20 hours left
I've been putting together some boards for orders while I watch the inbox, waiting for that mysterious investor with a heart of gold.......come onnnnnnn do it

Matthew on December 15
Hi Kevin,
This is such a great product! I wish the project would have caught on!Any chance for another listing of the project and possibly getting hack-a-day or the maker sites in on this to publicize it? Or bundling it with a GUI friendly project so that the masses are more inclined to jump in?
Cheers,

Thanks Matthew, I might re-list the project, but I don't know when exactly. I'm working on an application that might convince more people to jump on board, but I'm kind of in a weird place where I have to either focus on getting the boards made, or do something cool with it. As I've mentioned before, the boards can still be bought on the website and the first few people that buy them there will get them soon.

Update #9: 2 more BoardX Mobos are in stock, 10 more on order + Christmas Giveaway!
Hey Everyone -
To say thanks to my backers, I'm giving away 1 do-it-yourself blank PCB free with each add-on that is ordered on the website (includes reservations).
That means if you buy an AVR-X, ADC-X or FRAM-X, you'll get a blank one free to assemble yourself! You'll have to buy the electronic parts yourself but that's easy since I'll be including the BOM + a hand written thank you note with your order!
"..but why are you selling these on your site?"
Once again, I'm building BoardX by hand and selling them as they're made, since it's looking like I'll have to fund mass production myself.
I've just completed building and testing 2 motherboards and about 20 various add-ons, and I'm placing an order for more parts (these will take approximately 3 weeks to arrive and assemble).
The first dozen or so orders and reservations will be filled as soon as possible!
Thanks again!
