We are a small group of seasoned and passionate artisan bakers who have come together to bring traditional bagels to Portland, Maine.
We are a small group of seasoned and passionate artisan bakers based in Portland, Maine who have come together with a mission that is twofold: to bring traditional bagels to Portland, and to create a successful enterprise that is both supportive of and dependent upon a strong regional economy.
Our bagels are made with simple, quality ingredients--the most important of which is organic flour--and each batch is hand rolled, boiled and baked in the traditional style. As a result, we achieve the full flavor and rich texture of the real handmade bagel--a product that Portland residents are eagerly awaiting.
It is important to us that we operate as an employee-owned, cooperative business that includes the community's interests as well as our own. In the interest of keeping costs low and supporting our local economy, we will be starting out in the Public Market House's Community Kitchen as a wholesale-only business. The funds we’re raising will go to kitchen renovation costs, ingredients, equipment and getting our oven installed and operational. With your help, we will be on our way to producing and delivering freshly made bagels to excited neighborhood businesses, seven days a week.
Please remember that kickstarter is an all-or-nothing campaign, so we do need to reach our goal in order to be successful. Ten percent of any money we raise over our goal amount will be reinvested into other kickstarter projects to keep the good will rolling.
Thank you so much for checking out our project--we look forward to hearing from you, and feeding you delicious bagels in the not-too-distant future.
