Amputee. International Superstar. Dying patient. Broken child. Lonesome nurse. What do they all have in common?
What is Umbrella?
Umbrella is an independent feature film; a multi strand narrative drama that explores themes of forgiveness. It follows the lives of four main characters, and how they each discover reprieve in different ways.
We have all suffered moments in life where we wish we could turn back the clock and make amends for our mistakes. During the story of Umbrella, we wish to tell a story where dwelling on our past does not help resolve our future. These characters all commence on a discovery in which each and every interaction we experience, can and does make a difference, be it big or small and how we can make a better future for ourselves and our families.
Alexander Way (37yrs old)

As a direct result of the attack, Alex loses one of his legs. Having believed that he failed the woman, he is searching for redemption, both from himself and the victim of the sexual assault.
Alexander Way will be played by Ben Woof (Pictured Below)

Jesiah grew up with a fractured relationship with his father. Having not spoken with his dad in over 20 years, troubling news offers him the chance to reconcile & move forward in both his life and his fathers.
You can only run so far before your past starts coming back round again.

Joshua Herron: Producer (IMDB)

Scott Clifton: Exec Producer

He will be the 1st Assistant Director, he has a vast amount of experience drawn from his work on projects such as War Horse, Robin Hood and BBC drama "Silk".
As an independent feature film, we have so far personally had to raise all the money that we will pour into the making of this film.
The final budget for Umbrella is not £10,000. All money raised will go straight into the production quality of Umbrella. This includes transportation, equipment costs, ensuring everything looks fantastic on-screen as our work-ethic is off-screen. If we are lucky enough to surpass our goal of £10,000, it will allow us to take greater artistic risks on the film. We are personally pouring thousands of pounds of our own money into making Umbrella the best film it can possibly be. Help support our vision, and follow us on our journey.
Even small feature film productions can head north of over £1M in today's climate. We are attempting to challenge pre-conceptions that you need a big budget to make a good film. Money does not equal story.
By donating to the project, you will become a member of Team Umbrella, and have our eternal thanks.
We will be simultaneously updating our Kickstarter page with exclusive content for our backers, whilst also updating the Official Umbrella website & Facebook page -
We will be shooting the film on a Black Magic Cinema Camera. We believe this offers a much more dynamic picture than our Canon / Nikon DSLR's, ensuring we capture Umbrella in the quality it deserves. Despite the fact we are a small team, we will not be cutting back on visual / audio equipment!
Storyboards - Pre-Viz
Below we have detailed the process from storyboarding to screen. Thanks to a wonderful local artist, we have been able to visualise the entire film, allowing us to iron out any issues we may have had before filming begins.
Shown below are some of the locations that can be found in Umbrella.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We are making a feature film so inevitably there will be some risks and challenges that we will be confronted with along the way.
We will be shooting with the Black Magic Cinema Camera, this is a new product on the market and it will be a challenge to adjust our workflow so that we can get the most out of this camera and it's fantastic 2.5K RAW shooting format. But a challenge that will in the end give us great results.
In the film, water plays an important role. It will be raining throughout most of the film which will pose a problem for the special effects department to be able to create this physical effect both on set and at various locations. It will also pose a problem for our DoP and camera operators as the equipment will need to be safe and waterproofed.
Being an independent film crew means that we are working with a fairly small crew. We will have on average 12 people on set at any one time. This could pose a problem for us, especially when we come to shoot the big set pieces in the film.
This is also our first feature film production, it will be an interesting move and we will use our experience we have gained from the short films we have made and transpose them to the feature environment.
On all productions time is always going to be a constant worry, we have planned to shoot the film over 32 days, which means principal photography will be finished on February 12th. We have planned 3 contingency days in case of emergency. Wet weather cover has also been arranged so if we have the unfortunate luck of being rained off we will not have wasted a days filming. We then proceed onto post-production for a few months.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
