About this project
We are eleven college seniors in the Photography program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Instead of writing a thesis paper to graduate, it is customary for U of I's Photography students to put on a thesis exhibition at the end of the academic year, which showcases our final body of artwork. The program requires us to find a space to exhibit our artwork, rent the location, refurbish the interior, light it, install work, and provide food, drink, and music for our opening reception. In order to achieve this huge and exciting endeavor, we must fundraise throughout our rigorous senior year.
Our senior class has taken somewhat of a different approach to fundraising than classes of the past. We feel that student art on campus has always been a very separate thing from Urbana-Champaign's art community, music scene, etc. We hope to take events that are generally used for fundraising, which is required of us, and use them to also join student art with the wider art community. In this way, art students and the local artists and musicians can benefit from one another and create excitement around our communities' Arts.
We humbly ask for your support to help us reach our goal of $4,000 which will allow us to put our thesis show—a requisite to earning our Bachelors of Fine Arts.
