The Urban Grower's Market encourages backyard growers and artisans to sell their produce and crafts in a local marketplace.
Our idea for The Urban Grower's Market is to utilize smaller farmers and backyard growers for a smaller even more local-centric farmers market. Our focus will be on shedding more light on backyard food production, it's role in local community and how what we eat brings us all closer together. We would like to bring the production of our food back into the hands of the people. We also want to create a fun and exciting evening for our neighbors and families in Vancouver.
We are looking for small production growers, the term "small" being still yet to be determined as well as those who produce extra yield in their backyards and gardens. We also are interested in preparing items from local residents such as jams and salsas and we are also interested in having food vendors onsite so we can have a foot court and gathering point for people. Local artisans and crafters will also have booths and table to sell their wares. There will be an acoustic music booth in the front and we will be treated to various demonstrations and performances by those who volunteer to do so.
The market will run from May to October on the second Friday of every month from 4-8pm.
We need to raise $400 for a lot permit and insurance and are hoping we can get the community's help with this!
