Update #4: Exploding funnelcakes?

Posted on February 15, 2011

Hello Backers!
It has been four weeks since we called production on Doughboy a wrap. Since then, many hours have already been spent on editing, where I have come to a particular editing trial I have never encountered: explosions!
Last week, we spent a whole lot of money ordering all the Doughboy gifts to send to all of you backers! Some of it has already come in and I am very excited to send them to you! I'm especially excited to see the new Turtlist Media t-shirts designed by Jerry Ma of Epic Proportions and Secret Identities (secretidentities.com).
The final DVD won't be released for a while longer, so sit tight! Good things take time and we don't want to release anything prematurely. However you can expect to receive your gifts and DVD's sometime in the spring!
Stay tuned for a video documenting what it was liek to be a part of the production!
Best,
Jason Lee

Update #3: It's a wrap! sort of...

Posted on January 25, 2011

Hello friends and supporters of Turtlist Media!
Thanks to the generosity of many supportive people, Doughboy called production a wrap on Saturday, January 22! Now awaits hours and hours of editing to finish the final product! I've looked at a bunch of the footage and it looks amazing thanks to the cinematographic help of Anna Wu (annawuphotography.com), Steve Nguyen (ChannelAPA.com), and Kevin Yau. We had an amazing cast, including Rob Ryu, Brittany Park, Kenneth Chang, and Yoori Park. We even spent a few stressful days having to deal with paperwork from the Screen Actors Guild. Fortunately, the work was worth it to grab the talents of Rob Ryu, who played Felix, the main character. Be on the look out for emails asking for your tshirt sizes and shipping addresses as we prepare dozens of gifts for shipping! Please be patient though as many of you will have to wait to watch the DVD until it is finished, which may not be ready for a little while. We'll keep you updated though with fun videos from production and posts on the current status of Doughboy!
Thank you everyone for all your support and help throughout this amazing experience!
Best,
Jason Lee

Awesome! Haha you got my website wrong (annawu.com) but I'm so glad I got to meet all of you and work on this project! I left LA super inspired by all of you. Cheers!

Update #2: Doughboy has been funded!!!!

Posted on December 25, 2010

Hello supporters,
I just wanted to let you know that Doughboy has been 125% funded with a week to go! This feat has been achieved due to the generosity of people like you! Thank YOU so much for your encouraging support these last two weeks. The campaign is still taking pledges up till January 1st so if you feel so inclined, you can still share this fundraising campaign with others! $2250 was the minimum amount we need to produce this movie, but everything extra will mean the difference between (for example) hiring someone to produce a music score customized to the timing of the short as opposed to purchasing the rights to one already made. I am truly grateful for everyone's generosity and am incredibly excited to get rolling on production in late January! From my heart to yours, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Best,
Jason Lee

Update #1: Day 3 of fundraising and we are 3/4 of the way there!

Posted on December 15, 2010

Dear Supporters,
Seasons greetings! Today is the third day since Turtlist Media officially launched our fundraising efforts and we are already 74% backed! I must say I have been extremely overwhelmed by the amount of support I have seen in just the first few days! My sincerest thanks to all who have already pledged as well as those who have helped spread the word about Doughboy. Prospects look good, but we're not there quite yet! Please continue to help spread the word about Doughboy and the fundraising campaign!
Best,
Jason Lee
