About this project
The Book
Encounters ~ Plots ~ Places is a source book for any fantasy role playing game. In it you will find Non-player characters, items, adventure hooks, encounters & beasties - all easily added to your campaign with a minimum of effort.

NPCs
Detail descriptions and motivations, including suggestions for powers, dominant traits and the reasoning behind their existence. Each NPC is well fleshed out and includes suggestions for inserting them into your campaigns.
Get a free preview in the form of Alintar the Just - one of many NPCs to be featured in this book.
Encounters
Interesting and original creatures and situations that can be used as one off encounters, side quests or as the basis for larger adventures within your campaign. Great for conventions, one shot games, or as detailed additions to your current campaign.
Items
New magical items that have never been seen before. Detailed descriptions, methods of operation, usage and pitfalls for every item, including adventure hooks useful for creating larger adventures based around each item.
Places
Eerie villages, sites of conflict, areas of interest: detailed descriptions of areas your party can wander through, complete with adventure hooks. Add in an items, encounters and NPCs as you see fit.
Adventure Hooks
Brief summaries for use in creating your own adventures. Think of them as seeds from which your entire campaign can grow.
See the Table of Contents (rough) here.
The Funding
Kickstarting this project serves two purposes. The first is to allow interested people to pre-order the PDF or physical book. The book is already well under development, currently at 36 pages in length with an expected length of 40 pages or more. All artwork for the book as it stands is in place. I expect this book to be completed by mid-December of this year.
The second purpose is to grow the content of this book. If the financial goal is met, I'll be commissioning some original artwork from artist and illustrator Khairul Hisham, who's work has been featured in many other RPGs, recently in Azamar and Argyle & Crew. Along with this new artwork will come new content.
Also, depending on your funding level, rewards include the ability for you the backer to help design items, encounters, NPCs and even assist with art direction.
International backers - please add $10 for shipping outside of the US.

FAQ
-
I have lots of friends who game, and it seems that the more friends I make in the RPG community, the more diverse their groups are and the more fantasy RPGs I discover.
I wanted to make a book that's useful to anyone doing fantasy role playing games - not just for one system.

I'm all about open design and trying before you buy. I'd much rather you download this PDF from a torrent network and decide it's just not for you than have you spend $5 on it and reach the same conclusion.
Also, it's not stealing when I'm freely giving it away. :) If you like what you see here, perhaps you'll turn around and purchase it, or recommend it to friends who might. Either way, my work is getting in to more hands.
And yes, I plan on seeding this on several bittorent sites.

Yes. Probably. That is, if you're looking for new and interesting takes on gaming, where not everything may be what it seems. I believe it's always a good thing to keep your party on their toes, both by exploring dangerous new concepts in gaming, and by completing fulfilling and different adventures.

I love games, crowd sourced projects and geeky things.
I've been playing and running RPGs since I was 9 years old. Other projects of mine include my current website (http://www.trollitc.com) a blog concerned with all things SciFi and Fantasy. We're read by a bit over 25,000 folks a month and growing.
I've published many PDFs for use with Pathfinder, a sock puppet based RPG for kids called Argyle & Crew and am currently working on my own RPG system.
