Back from the Summit

Update #8 · May 6, 2012 · comment

What an Experience!!! I can't believe it has already been a week since I've gotten back from Doha! It was such a mind blowing event that it took me a while to get back to a state of normalcy. I did get quite a few pictures and I wanted to give you a taste of what I have. Here's a teaser at Google photos.

Thanks to everyone! It has definitely made an impact on me and it's a trip that I will never forget.

Less than a Week!

Update #7 · Apr 9, 2012 · comment

Wow! I can't believe there is less than a week til I fly out on my adventure. I'm really excited! I have been interacting with the 681 attendees through the TEDxSummit Facebook group page. I've made a friends from India, Sartaj Singh Anand and Noor Salam Khan, from Armenia, Kristine Sargsyan, from Egypt, Samir Talaat and Noha Gamal, from Amsterdam, Melissa Oudshoorn-Fuller, and many others!

I found a good video that explains some more about the difference between TED and TEDx

I've also made a new friend from Vancouver, British Columbia, Khalil Khalifa (Kris Krüg). He is a photographer for TED.com and is willing to help me out with tips and shooting locations. I've attached one of his pictures. While the conference will end Friday April 20, with an official Post-Summit tour on Friday, and a tour on Sat, I will be in Doha til Monday, (departing at 11:59pm). Kris will be onsite til then as well. This has definitely been a blessing.

What 'tours' am I taking? Well, Friday I will be going on a 3 hour tour of the Persian Gulf, aboard an authentic Dhow. Pretty cool! Saturday I get to go to the Sheik Faisal Museum. After the museum, we head to the camel racing track and then the Qatari Royal Stable. It's going to be one exciting day!

I would also like to thank all those that have supported me. It's been an incredible ride so far, and yet this roller coaster ride hasn't even really begun! Thank you. :)

Almost 500!

Update #6 · Feb 13, 2012 · comment

Things are moving along quite nicely! The team in Doha have setup a Facebook page for TEDxSummit attendees, with 479 members! I've go to meet quite a few cool people. I've even had a couple of people offer to help with the book! I'm really excited! I've gotten the airfare booked and have my confirmation that I am all set to go!

I will be sending out a survey to request information so that I can fulfill the rewards. For those getting a postcard from Doha I will need addresses BEFORE I go to Qatar.

I've also started compiling my packlist for the trip cause I don't want to forget ANYTHING!

Thanks again,

You guys are Great!!!
