Hundreds of human archetypal balanced rock figures create a mystical community on the banks of Ballona Creek.
The Trioliths of Ballona Creek
“Extraordinary and beautiful this work came as a shock to me as I walked along the banks of the canal near Marina del Rey in California. It was a real discovery and astonishingly moving. Nigama is a wonderful artist. He has created a world in stone that made me think of the work of the great Chinese artists that created the recently uncovered army of warriors dating back centuries. It also reminded me of the creativity of Henry Moore. Congratulations, Nigama. Now the world must discover you.”
Peter Rose, President, Peter Rose Gallery NYC
Hippocrates said: Life is short, art is long. The Ballona Creek Trioliths are transient in nature so their life is short but their magic and incredible images is great art and deserves to live long. While preserving the rock art itself is not possible, it is possible to preserve the magical images of the rock sculptures and the interaction with people in a documentary as a beautiful example of the complete transformation of a place by art.
Pledge to keep the Trioliths alive on Ballona Creek. Hundreds of posed and balanced 3-stone figures have transformed an unremarkable urban creekside into a magical landscape, beckoning thousands of visitors since May 2010. Your pledge will maintain the installation and fund the making of a documentary film about the Trioliths of Ballona Creek, showing their power to transform the landscape, the viewer, and the artist. The documentary will capture this ephemeral art while it lives and will give the world an opportunity to discover it through the medium of film.
