TRIBAL HUNGER - IN DEVELOPMENT
We've been working on this title for several months now and the majority of our time has gone to making sure our foundation system is rock solid. What you see in our video are only shots from the Tribal Hunger: Prototype. We've drawn up the blueprints and now we're in the stages of executing them. We expect this game to be completed in December with a full launch in early Summer of 2013. Backers who pledge for the BETA will receive the game prior to the official launch! We are making a game unlike any other on your iPhone or iPad - a new genre combining the best elements from classic Bullet Hell and Tower Defense games. Based on simple color matching and rotation, the core mechanics will appeal to casual gamers while three levels of challenge ranging from normal to insane will feed hardcore gamers' hunger for punishing difficulty.
We've created an impressive upgrade system that is unique to the genre, incorporating skill tree concepts that are usually only found in role playing games. Four separate skill trees (one for each character), as well as an abundance of unlockable goodies will encourage gamers to try different strategies based on their playing styles, truly personalizing the experience.
Each of our gods have character-specific abilities, unlocked through our upgrade system. The Wolf god is our aggressive character focusing on speed and strength. The Eagle god is a point-builder relying primarily on passive abilities that increase bonus points. The Whale god is our defensive character whose abilities allow him to stay in the fight longer through building resistances. The Snake god is our ninja-like character who relies on precision & agility to out-wit its enemies.
Along with our character upgrades, we've created a weapon system that has its own level of progression. The Great Storm (which is controlled by the Tribal Gods) allows players to use lightning and other elements to destroy bombs and other detrimental assets.
We've worked hard to bring the Northwest Pacific tribal art to life with our characters. We want players to be able to easily connect with our characters and their personalities to create truly engaging experiences. In the beginning of our story, our characters are in a deep slumber in which they have taken totem form.
Our characters are awoken from their century long slumber by conquistador vikings that seek to pillage and destroy the Northwest Pacific tribes. Tribes rally together to bring sacrifices to the gods to give them energy to call upon the Great Storm to defend their lands. With their powers combined they fight the conquistador vikings for as long as possible. However, the conquistador vikings employ devastating bombs and game-changers in hopes of cutting off the gods' power.
Who are we?
Tribitech was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in early 2012. We are a small indie software developer focusing primarily in applications for downloadable platforms. We are mostly made up of students from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
I'm sure you've heard this before, but making a game is no picnic. It takes a lot of money and even a lot more hard work to see it through. Kickstarter is one of the only available avenues for small independent studios like ourself to get the funds necessary to release their titles. Fortunately for us, Kickstarter also happens to be one of the only available avenues that will fund a title without attempting to change every aspect of it. We've chosen Kickstarter because it allows us to reach out to you, and ask you personally. Will you give us your money to fund our dream?
We're currently designing our title for the iPhone and iPad. We are hoping to raise enough money to bring more people on board to help translate to other platforms. We would like to see our title released on other platforms like Android, Facebook, PSN, and Xbox Live Arcade. If you don't have an iPhone or iPad, don't hesitate to donate, we're still thinking about you guys!
We are currently waiting to get our hands on the developer kit for the OUYA. We would like to start developing for the OUYA as soon as we finish up our iOS development.
What do we plan to do with your contributions?
In order to complete the title we need $10,000 - this money will go to keeping our artists around and working hard as well as paying for expensive licenses, software, and trademarks. We hope to also acquire all the necessary testing devices to translate to the other platforms explained above.
