Matthew Fries, Phil Palombi and Keith Hall were brought together as the backing trio for jazz vocalist, Curtis Stigers, and toured extensively building up a level of musical communication that has become rare in the jazz world. With Tri-Fi they step into the spotlight and build on this musical chemistry with original compositions, new arrangements, and a vibrant swing in the tradition of the classic jazz piano trio. The result has been rave reviews.
"There is a big difference between a 'band' and musicians who just work together occasionally," explains Hall. "Because we spent so much time together, there is a freedom that is expressed in our music. We always have lots of fun."
Tri-Fi's style has been compared to the music of the Bill Evans Trio, the Oscar Peterson Trio, and modern piano trios of Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea.
Tri-Fi were praised on their self-titled debut album for "the perpetual forward thrust of the music... and their flawless intercommunication" by All About Jazz, and described as infusing "creative writing, fresh arranging and complimentary playing to offer us music that has to be reckoned with" by JazzReview.com.
About their most recent release, Postcards, All Music Guide says, "Tri-Fi is well on their way to incorporating new style and strength to their already potent brand of piano trio music."
Tri-Fi performs at clubs, festivals and colleges in the US and Europe.
Thank you for the downloads, I will enjoy your music. Nice photo on your new CD cover.
Best wishes from Germany.

Oh my goodness..... that was hot... I got so much done in that 9 minutes.. I jam to your music.. it energizes me... not quite like my nutrition products (wink wink) ... but it definately energizes my senses.... thanks for sending a 'teaser' out to all of us.
Sounds great guys. Can't wait to hear the rest.
Really terrific! Can't wait for the rest of the CD to arrive.
For your ears only. Clipped Wings. WOW !!!!
Excellent......................
Man! Sounds great! If this is a rough board mix, the final will sound fantastic. Dynamite music!
Hey y'all. The recording session went GREAT yesterday. George Petit (our engineer) got some amazing sounds. We're really happy - so, we think you will be too! We're all pretty exhausted from the weekend, but will post some updates in the next day or two and keep you informed about how the project is progressing. Just wanted to thank you again for your help! We couldn't do this without you.
- Matthew
Had a blast in Kalamazoo! Looking forward to seeing you guys again soon, can't wait for the new tunes!
c'mon guys, altho Bullfrog is probably good, you gotta get to Elk Creek Cafe and Aleworks in Millheim. and espcially when there is live music on Thursday and Saturday nights and often Sunday afternoon/evening :)

"High Energy" Linda
Well done to the three of you. We still say that the launch party for 'Postcards' was the best gig we have ever been to, particularly the second set. See you soon!
Alex and Annette
Thanks for the all the congratulations, y'all! Awesome news is right! Thank you thank you! We've been playing a bunch of the new music in our shows this week and the music is coming together nicely. We're all really looking forward to going into the studio this weekend.
- Matthew
Awesome news and with time to spare!! I am so thrilled for you guys, and cannot wait to hear the new stuff.
Oh, I also think I forgot to add the *shipping* costs so can I hand one of you some $$ in London at the end of July? :D
Eileen x
Well done !!!
Gongratulations!!!!
When I said "never", of course I meant "rarely"...
I'd love to go for the $200 option, but you guys never play in the UK so I don't think I'd benefit... It doesn't look like you'll need any more from me though, since you're only $89 short of the goal right now. :-D
BTW - looks like it includes the "extras for shipping" for overseas folks in the pledge total - does that leave you technically short a few bucks?
Thanks Michael, we appreciate your support and are looking forward to sharing the new music. Tune in to http://www.smallsjazzclub.com/index.cfm... from 7:30-9:30pm to watch and hear the new music-live from Smalls Jazz Club in NYC!!!
-Keith
Just did an upgrade, good luck getting to the 6k.
Michael.
Maarika the Gadget Geek! We'll put as much cool stuff as we can on that iPod. Thanks for upgrading to the higher support level. We love you! Actually - thanks to everybody! This recording is going to feel like a big party. I can't wait!
Matthew
Here is to a great follow up to 'Postcards'. Good luck!
You guys are great and as a friend of Curtis, I'm glad that I could pledge. If you ever get out to Seattle area, let me know! Maybe you could all come play at Jazz Alley. Or even closer to my own pull up a pub, Big Daddy's! I live above Ct Ste Michelle and they always have Lyle Lovett every summer and I think you would have the place jammin'. Good luck on your CD and I'll spread the word here!
Probably I'm the last person on the edge, who doesn't have an iPod. I'm thinkin' about an upgrade... Anyone else? :)
Thanks for the words of encouragement y'all!
Matthew
Wish you all the best guys! Can't wait for number 3! See keith and Matt at Ronnies with Curtis in July, and hope it's not too long before we catch-up again with you Phil!
