Update #8: New shows and updates

Posted on May 23, 2011

Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know about a couple of shows with artwork from New Blood for the Old Body.  The first is Rochester Contemporary Arts 6x6x2011 show. They have a popular vote category, so maybe you could throw some votes in for me? Visit this link - http://www.roco6x6.org/6x6x2011.php  You can search for my photos by number 553, 554, 555, 556 and 557. You can vote once per day per email address.

The second show is called Local Farms/Local Art. It is on display now at Panzanella in Carrboro NC.

I still have a few envelopes of reward prints from the show that either have bad addresses or no info at all. If you did not receive your prints, please let me know!

More shows coming up - please vote on the 6x6x2011 photos!

Update #7: Two weeks until the show

Posted on October 2, 2010

I know that funding has gone over the original requested amount, but with two weeks to go until the show much of the backing is already spent. I pick up the bulk of the prints next Wednesday. From that point there will be just a few more to print. Then it is on to the program, the food and the rewards to you all. It will be a busy two weeks...

It was tearing me up that you weren't at 300%, so I had to redo my pledge. A little OCD, I know...
And thanks for your support man, I wasn't expecting that, and really appreciate it.

Update #6: Seven days to go

Update #5: Counting down

Posted on September 28, 2010

I am still moving through photographs, trying to figure out sizing. It looks like there will be six at 24x30. I thought it might be eight, but finding two more has been a challenge. In the 16x24 and 16x20 sizes I feel that there are some strong themes developing. I'm just moving on from there.

On the food and drink fronts, on Friday night we harvested sassafras from our land for use in the root beer. On Saturday morning I helped out with a sorghum harvest just down the road at Okfuskee Farm. I am hoping that the sorghum molasses will be ready in time to add the sweetness to the root beer.

There are ten days to go with the Kickstarter page and then seven more days to the actual show. Please continue to spread the word!

how about some homemade vanila ice cream to go with that root beer?

Update #4: culling and storytelling

Posted on September 22, 2010

Every night after feeding the pigs and turkeys, I hook up my laptop to the two external hard drives holding two years worth of RAW image files. I load up Adobe Bridge and get to work on choosing photographs for the upcoming show.

I scrawled out a rough list of about 50 shots and noted what sizes they might work well within. From there I open each file, look for possible problems with sizing and composition and make final color adjustments. Simple enough.

The problem I have right now is the storytelling aspect. I suspect it will come together soon, but time is closing in on getting the prints made...
