Why BEIRUT?

It's as simple as this: BEIRUT rocked my world and I want it to rock yours.  It's the kind of stuff that makes me excited to live.  It's poetry: raw and rowdy, delicate and timeless. It is one part an exploration of love and what we are willing to sacrifice to have it, and one part a social commentary of it's time on the initial handling of the AIDS virus. It's easy to forget the havoc and turmoil that was brought on by the disease and our country's lackadaisical response to the despair. Modern medicines and widespread awareness of the topic, coupled by countless other headlines fighting for our attention have pushed AIDS out of the spotlight. Beirut reminds us of what was and that life is fragile still.

The play is cast thus far as follows:

YOUR MONEY - the money collected from you beautiful creatures will go toward (and in this order of importance):

• the hiring of an established director 
• paying for the rights of the play
• rental of the theater
• stipends for cast and crew
