INTRODUCING AMP POSTERS

Interactive artwork that tells stories. Experience short film, music, literature and more, all witih a fine art print and a phone.  

Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings.

A barcode that smartphone cameras scan to load a website. They look like this:

WHAT IS AMP?

Ambient Media Portal. It is the use of QR codes embedded in an elegant way to peek into the world that lives in a painting. It is an attempt to smash all aspects of Art (see definition above) into one image that is accessible through the use of a smartphone.

WHY VIEW ART WITH A SMARTPHONE?

To expand the experience beyond the initial reaction to the art. To allow the artist to actively communicate with the viewer. To create a new media channel where you can listen to music, watch a film, and read stories in a multimedia dynamic experience from the comfort of your home.

WHY THIS MATTERS

For many, the smartphone is the main form of communication in our daily lives. Text, tweet, call, snap, play, search. The power to connect to the globe is right in our hands. With all the apps being created to unlock the potential of the smartphone, why not use these innovations to discover art in an exciting new way.

HOW DO I ACCESS AMP?

Look at the rewards in the grey bar to the right of the screen.

Think of each poster as both art you hang on the wall and subscription to wonderful content by various independent artists. The goal is to update the content as often as possible so you get access to creative stories told through the art on your wall.

NEXT STEPS AND WHERE THE MONEY GOES 

The paintings have already been created. They're in my gallery located near the famous Pike Place market and Seattle Art Museum (Hammering Man) in downtown Seattle. If anyone wants to come see them in person I’d love to have you stop by.

There are three areas that the money will be spent on. They are as follows.

1. To create the high quality content we will hire a larger team of artists. I will art direct this team (a role I have done previously) in a studio located in Seattle. The goal of this approach would be to not only produce something of high quality, but give other talented artists a chance to showcase their work and be involved in a larger project with a spotlight. There are a total of 18 QR codes in the three paintings. This team would create and produce the content for each one. The type of content we create will depend on the amount raised. For example, producing a video costs more than writing a story. We will wait to see our funding level before committing to the number of videos created.
2. In parallel with the content production our team will build the web and mobile sites (the mobile version will be HTML, not a native application). There is no ground-breaking technology that has to be developed, which means that these apps will be built on open-source, standards-based software stacks, to reduce costs and time to production.
