Folded Tyvek samples arrived!
Dear Backers,
We just received a pack of folded Tyvek samples [scroll down for a pic] and we were stoked to see that the fold from the MiuraLab folding machine is just as good (actually, slightly better) than a handfolded sheet.
We had hoped that the MiuraLab guys would be able to handle printing as well as folding, but they've insisted that we find a third party to do the printing so we're now looking for a good printer in Tokyo. The first quote we got was from an art-book printer and it was extremely high, so we're currently waiting on other quotes. We will have a printer chosen by Friday, at which point we will officially be starting production!
Best,
-Eric & Shan

I don't know anyone able to help, but I have a wallet from dynomighty (see dynomighty.com). I mention this because it is printed on Tyvek and the printing has stood up fairly well to daily use (as a wallet) they may be able to recommend a source domestic or overseas and that may prove fruitful.
Good Luck!

Look at Tokyo bogarting their folding technology! Makes sense; thanks for the reply! Good luck with the cultural gap as well, very interesting stuff.

@Adam We are doing the folding in Japan because the only guys who can do Miura folding at industrial scale are in Tokyo.
Since we're folding it in Tokyo, we figure it's simpler to have it printed there as well. Shipping the printed sheets to Japan could be quite expensive, although if we haven't got a printer in Tokyo by Friday that's probably what we will do!

Hey guys, great news about the folding! Just wondering if there's any printers closer to SF who can do the printing. I guess I never really got why everything is happening in Japan. You probably have reasons and I may have missed them, but was just wondering. Thanks for the great idea and the hard work!
