Search & Categories are here!
Thanks to the generous support from our Kickstarter backers, The Noun Project has launched Search & Categories features! www.thenounproject.com
Staying true to our mission of sharing our symbols in a fun and meaningful way, we’ve spent a lot of time focusing on the design of the Search option, making sure it’s simple and fun to use. We’ve also made some upgrades to the overall user experience of our site, for example you can now scroll through all the symbols while viewing them in the pop-up shadow box.
Looking for ideas? Check out our Categories collections. Some of the categories we’ve included are Transportation, Technology & Communication, and Safety & Warnings, just to name a few.
A big thank you to all of our Kickstarter supporters who saw the true potential of The Noun Project from the get-go! We will continue to develop and grow the site while keeping the symbols we share with the world free and of the highest design quality.
Enjoy, and share with your friends,
;)

@Sbschenker: We're printing them right now as we speak! We started printing them last weekend after getting the tees back from the dye house, and are continuing to work through today and tomorrow. They will ship this week. I'll upload some of the NounShirts we've printed on Flickr and do an update soon.

now march 11th, no shirt and no indication they shipped. Update please. Getting nervous. Been close to 90 days since this ended.

@Rick: I spoke with our manufacturer yesterday, the NounShirts are cut & stitched and just went into the dye house. We expect to get them back next week, then they're off to print! We're hoping to start shipping week of March 7th.
@Ruth: They're not all Public Domain, there are some Creative Commons Attribution in there as well, but I like your idea! Need to think it over and discuss with our developers. Thank you :)
Creator Ruth on February 25, 2011
since it's all public domain anyway, you could let users add tags and delete tags on the images with keywords that they think are relevant to the image. kind of like Wikipedia, get people involved.

What is the status of the Rewards T-Shirts ? When do you expect them to be completed and shipped ?

@Johan
This is just the beginning of Search, and we're working on continuing to extend its usability and scope. Thanks for the suggestions!

Hm, if I search for happy, I would love to see nouns related to that term in the search result. That would be possible if the behind-the-scenes algorithm expanded the terms with related words and synonyms.
At least for me, the search would be used to get inspiration and maybe find a different noun that is still usable for my needs. Again, to me an empty search result is useless, but seeing "happy" returned when I enter "smile" is very useful. Also for "play" I would find related terms like "game" relevant.
