Update #4: Why I (Jamie) believe the Growlie project is important
It is easy to get distracted with the mundane aspects of the work that we do - building machines, servicing equipment, consulting on projects, helping people buy things - and this is why I am taking a moment to let everyone know why I am part of this project.
It would be easy to say that I want to build cool stuff that people want to own. I could talk about the awesome conversations that helped spurn the Growlie name. Or maybe talk about the amazing variety of machines out there that could power this project. But in the end, this project is not about any of those things.
This project is about:
- Fostering collaboration and cooperation
- Finding new ideas for new challenges
- Looking for interesting ways to be more green
- Building ideas that I can later communicate to my children
- Building relationships around common passions

Update #3: We are listening!
We are busy working to address the many suggestions that have come to us through various blogs, tweets and emails. We will be updating photos, descriptions and project plans over the next several days.
Here are the highlights of what you will see coming your way:
- Updates on the new handle design and some comfort additions to be added
- Updated information on the materials that will be used in the final units
- Additional details about insulation materials and some 3D renderings of what it will look like with the insulation inserted
- Swag design samples for the Growlie T-Shirt and Coaster Sets

Update #2: New More Sturdy Handle Design
One of the most exciting parts of developing a new product is the process that the product goes through in prototyping and the Growlie project is no exception.
One of the big reasons for prototyping a product is to test for functional design and usability. During the development of Prototype C, Keith determined that the handle design that was implemented was less sturdy than we would like and potentially had an issue with being uncomfortable to carry.
The solution that he came up with was to double up the thickness of the handle design and it worked remarkably well! Check out the video below to see how much of a difference this small but important design change made to the usability of the carrier.

The Growlie project has been successfully launched and we are getting lots of good feedback from those checking out the project. We have had several inquiries about interviews from various folks in the craft beer and MAKE communities. The interest in the project is building!
