Our Story:

Founded in 2009, Underground Comix strives to become a new leading voice in the independent comic book & graphic novel world and serve as a platform for indie comic artist and writers who otherwise would not have a voice or opportunity to share their passion for the medium with the world at large. By creating & discovering exciting new original comic/graphic novel content, Underground Comix is poised to change the face of indie comics and the comic book community as a whole.

Currently, we are hard at work putting together the first issue of our flagship comic book “TITANS” set to release in January, 2012 and a preview book that will be showcased at the Kokomo Comic Con on 10/8/11 and at AshComic Con on 10/30/11 in Kokomo/Indianapolis, Indiana respectively. Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover cost incurred by the cons. So what is “TITANS” you ask?

TITANS: is an upcoming 2011 mythological/fantasy-action comic book written and created by new indie comic writer Johnny Mack. The project was previously named Battle for the Throne before being officially named TITANS and is a re-imagining and “re-mixing” of stories from Greek, Norse and Egyptian mythology to tell the overall story of the impending retirement of God and the ensuing battle over who will become the next “Supreme” ruler.

Plot: Years after the second Titanomachy, the heroes, demi-gods, gods and goddesses of the Olympian pantheon live in relative obscurity in a realm parallel to the modern world known as the “Gleaming”. Their powers already weakened from their lack of worshipers, Zeus and the other Olympian gods are all but forgotten.

However, God the Supreme ruler has decided that mankind has grown in leaps and bounds to be a kinder, fairer, gentler race, although still plagued with some issues; God has decided that he is ready to retire from his job as supreme ruler. With the position needing to be filled, God decides to open the position up to the other gods. Using, Hermes and three others as heralds to summon the Olympians to the Grand Hall, God explains that he is going into slumber and that his seat as supreme ruler is up for grabs, only thing is that the gods must battle for the throne with the last one standing crowned as the new supreme ruler.

The Impact

Without funding, we will not be able to cover all the cost associated with the conventions. This means that we may not be able to showcase the preview book or first issue of “TITANS”. Comic book conventions are one of the main tools used by comic book artist and creators to garner attention to and showcase their work to publishers, merchandisers and fans. Our not able to properly promote or comic or attend the convention could not only set us back for the 2011/2012 comic season, but could very well cause the project to completely fold. Which would suck because not only will we not be able to share our story with you; but people who have supported us by backing us will not get their rewards. This would suck all the way around. We got a lot of fun exciting things planned for this series, but without your financial support it just is not possible.

This project has been a labor of love for the UGC family for over three years, with much of the time going into searching for talented artist, research and development of the idea and spreading the word through family and friends. We at Underground have dedicated so much of our time and energy to the project sacrificing personal time with loved ones. Missing out on social engagements and functions with family, spending our own money until we could no longer absorb the cost ourselves; a point we are now at and is why we are reaching out to the patrons of Kickstarter for help and support.

What We Need & What You Get

A budget was set to determine how much funding would be needed to cover all cost and potential cost for both conventions in October. After careful number crunching and some DYI factors we have come up with the amount of 7,000. This amount would cover the following items:

• Printing of preview book (500)
• Advanced copies of issue #1 of comic (100)
• Promotional ads, posters, folders for media packets (100)
• T-shirts, Stickers and other swag for con (100 of each)
• Convention registration cost
• Food & Travel for each con
• Any other miscellaneous expenses associated with the con

Any additional funds would go to the printing of more comic and preview books as well as more swag.

In return for your kind and generous donations, we have a host of perks as our way of saying “thank you” for having faith in Underground Comix, what we stand for and our future success. There are six different levels of funding, ranging from as little as one dollar up to 100$.

There is also a level of funding for small business owners, comic artist/creators as well, this reward includes advertising space and your company’s name prominently displayed on various items of Underground Comix during the conventions.

Rewards included are, autographed preview books, personal messages of thanks via dvd, signed copies of the comic book “TITANS” upon release, t-shirts, prints, and much more. Please look through our perks and claim yours as there are limited numbers of each perk. So get them before they are gone! (NOTE: Some of these rewards will be offered once we secure 500 or more in backing. Reward Bonus Alerts will be updated as this occurs).
