Timothy is a contemporary jeweler; he has never left the country. Chosen for Talente 2011 in Munich, he wants to go. Help send him off!
Hi. I’m Timothy, a contemporary jeweler based in Brooklyn, NY. It’s been a goal of mine to attend the Handwerk & Design exhibitions in Munich, where the best of craft, fine art, and design are shown side-by-side during the Internationale Handwerksmesse. This year, my work was chosen to be a part of Talente which focuses on introducing experimental work of young craftsmen and women in the areas of design and technology. It's a major milestone as an emerging jewelry artist to be included and recognized on the international level. By spending a week in Munich during this major confluence of jewelry, jewelers, appreciators, and collectors, I hope to make new connections from around the world as well as gain inspiration and motivation from copious and diverse contemporary jewelry on display throughout Munich.
During my time in Munich I plan to take in as much of Handwerk & Design and visit as many of the satellite installations in the city as possible. Having never been outside of the country before, I would like to experience Munich in general as well, but my priority will be on jewelry and there will be plenty to keep me occupied. The project minimum of $1,650 covers the cost of round-trip economy air fare from NYC-Munich and lodging for 7 nights in Munich as well as an estimated cost of the materials and shipping costs to fulfill backer rewards and the fees subtracted by kickstarter and the amazon payments system (~10%). Since it is possible for projects to collect pledges after a goal has been reached, I’d like to make it clear that any money pledged beyond the goal will be saved until a new jewelry opportunity arises.
