Update #4: New Website
Update #3: Photo Shoot #1
I have scheduled a photo shoot for tomorrow morning with Magdalena Bañuelos. This will be the first of 2 shoots for the album. I've also been working with Gina Razon on the 3 Spanish songs, Noche y luna, mar y fuego. After her upcoming recital on May 9th at the Broomfield Auditorium, I will be focusing intently on the recording of Noche y luna, as well as Weep no more, my Lady!, the violin concerto.
I want to thank each and every one of you again for making this possible. Not only is realizing an album's worth of recordings a pricey venture full of hard work, but it's also a time consuming one! I can't begin to tell you all just how excited I am to be finishing it this year. I hope everyone is well and stay tuned for the next update...it will contain something special!
Update #2: Preview of Design & Fluctuations
I spent the afternoon in the studio with Rebecca Weidman-Winter recording my solo flute piece, Design & Fluctuations. I've taken some clips from what was recorded today and pieced them together to give you all a sneak peek at one of the pieces that will be on this album.
Update #1: Preview of "Weep no more, my lady!"
I've put together a recording of various sections from Weep no more, my lady!, the first movement of the violin concerto. This recording is what composers call a "mockup." Mockups are created with synthesized/sampled instruments playing the parts that will be played by real instruments when the piece is recorded in its entirety. As the piece will be recorded with a piano reduction of the orchestral part for the CD, I've used that reduction to create this mockup. Mockups are a great tool for modern composers. While they often lack the realism of human performers, they generally allow us to get a good feel for the flow of a piece and certainly make it much easier to double check our scores for "wrong" notes!
Each significant theme of the piece is represented in this mockup. I hope you enjoy it!!
