About this project
At Burning Man 2011 "Rites of Passage" we will unveil the "Sacred Space Pod" and its "Vitruvian Being from the 31st Century." This functional art project is also a living Timecapsule being sent to the distant future.
With all the turmoil and stress in our world seem, one of the greatest and most devestating challenges is the fear and hopelessness that seems to be prevading a mass of humanity. The Sacred Space Pod has been designed to inspire people young and old, from all walks of life, from different backgrounds and cultures, around the world, as a mythic icon for the 21st century, to instill hope and courage for us all to rally together to "build a better future now!"
Jai Hudes is author of a 'fractal novel' story called, "Emails from the Traveler" a science fiction story about a quantum bridge being built between the Millennials of the 21st century and the Millenials of the 31st century. One of the scenes from this story is coming alive, in real time...
The world is going through massive transformations. Our story represents a new generation of ‘tools of mass creation’ designed to spark a new, meaningful conversation in our world. The Sacred Space will become an inspirational icon for greater awareness, understanding and peace.
We have a 'Be & Be Well" Flotation Center in the Santa Cruz Mountains and are major proponents of flotation (used to be called "sensory deprevation") and using these devices for stress reduction and greater awareness. We rescued and am converting a decommissioned flotation tank that was destined for a land fill, and am retrofiting it with an array of healing devices and Consciousness tools (oxygen, aromatherapy, crystal technology, LED's, light and sound brain wave synchronizer and more,.. Our goal is to offer as close to an epson salt/water “flotation experience,” as possible. This means being able to have an eXperiencer to quickly drop into a beta, delta and theta states of brain wave activity.
“Sensory Exaltation Therapy” or S.E.T. your mind free!A pod padded with comfortable “Memory Foam” or “Ortho Gel” with a Mind State Optimizer that induces Alpha, Theta and Delta Brainwaves through light & sound therapy, oxygen and aromatherapy putting the body at rest while stimulating the brain’s capacity to the max...creating a space to hatch our genius!The outer skin of the tank, turned time-space pod, is being painted by a world class, Trompe l'oeil artist, Will Northcutt (willnorthcutt.com), is updating Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, “The Vitruvian Man" transforming it into "The ‘Vitruvian Being from the 31st Century.” This unique depiction will be a dramatic, inspirational entrance into this 'experience chamber' reminding people of the importance of self reflection and inspiring people to focus that it is in our power to create a more positive future.
This Sacred Space Pod is first in a series of "Traveler" art projects. The plan is to create 8 more circular shaped Trompe l'oeil murals. Each a connection to the next, and all eight fitting together as part of a bigger picture and puzzle-like 3D depiction of the engaging storyline called, Emails from the Traveler. The Sacred Space Pod will become an Ambassador for the future, as it moves from place to place, and event to event, rallying supporters to imagine a better world and work together to build it.
The Sacred Space Pod is also a unique feature of the “Sacred Spaces Village” at Burning Man 2011, with this years theme appropriately called, “Rites of Passage.” We will be located at the center of the Burning Man Universe, on the Esplanade at 4:30. Prime Real Estate to prime the pump fo the Traveler engine as it makes its way into the popular culture.
This project will be supported by other expressions of the Timecapsule, like a version created for Google Circles social network and Google Earth as a Timecapsule Game; It will become a “fractal novel” storyline; and also for X the Game set of cards. There is also a film project planned , to bring the Travler story alive on the big scene. (above is a depiction of that vision. As Trompe l'oeil artist and Art Director Will brought in Dana Hunt to graphically depict the Vitruvian Being through this "whimsical" version of the vision which is being considered as an X the Game "Lifecircle card."
A Sacred Space pod blog will enable us to share the progress and for a work group / team, and to be able to further establish this project at a series of geographically correct locations around the world, to grow this beacon of hope. After the pod is complete a special edition "Sacred Space Pod 2011 Traveler” tee shirt and poster will offer a way for supporters to show their connection to the future, connecting with this sacred geometrical portal, as it leads us into the distant future.
We actually need more than $4000 of resources to continue to develop this project. This is the minimum for us to develop the Sacred Space Pod to its fullest potential and produce one of the coolest projects, that will be center stage on the Burning Man Playa, and will live on ad infinitum........
