A steampunk short film about two scientists, their time machine, and the terrible consequences of its activation.
London, 1895. Dr. Philip Zeitz and Dr. Robert Turing have just completed the first successful test of their masterpiece – a time machine. But their celebration is cut short by the arrival of a mysterious message from the future. Is it prank, part of another experiment, or something more sinister? Dr. Zeitz insists they end the experiment, secretly fearing they might trigger a paradox while Dr. Turing fights to keep his life’s work operational. The fierce debate ends when something else arrives in the machine – something much worse than any note.
WHAT IS STEAMPUNK?
Here's what Wikipedia has to say about the genre:
"Steampunk is a genre that originated during the 1980s and early 1990s and incorporates elements of science fiction, fantasy, alternate history, horror, and speculative fiction. It involves a setting where steam power is widely used—whether in an alternative history such as Victorian era Britain or "Wild West"-era United States, or in a post-apocalyptic time —that incorporates elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology, or futuristic innovations as Victorians might have envisioned them, based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, and art. This technology includes such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or the contemporary authors Philip Pullman, Scott Westerfeld and China Mieville."
TRIBAL IRIS ENTERTAINMENT
Tribal Iris is the collective intent of a few independent film makers who aspire to define new methods of self expression through film. We are artists who possess a passion for storytelling, a fascination with the intricacies of life, and the means by which to explore the boundless possibilities of perspective. We adhere to the belief that only through the sincerest of expressions can one hope to move another. It is our humble contention that the most profound truths can be revealed through a proper depth of field.
Nope. The teaser video you see is comprised of concept artwork, and only reflects the feel and style of the final film (i.e. set design, costumes, props, etc.) This film will be a live action short, filmed on the RED digital cinema cameras.
Any funds raised over our goal will go towards making the time machine actually work. If that happens all backers can expect a significant return on their investment or a chance to tell their younger self not to get that tattoo.
In all seriousness, any amount we receive over our goal will go back into the production via set design and/or wardrobe. The largest expense here is the construction of the set, so more than likely it will be used to further enhance the authenticity of the time machine's mechanisms and machinery.
