HOW
Musicians have already donated their time to the project, and Skye Taylor has waived his studio fee so that the money raised can go to studio costs, CD duplication, mastering, printing, and shipping costs.
WHAT
Southern Gothic is Tifany’s dream of over three years. With songs that have already become fan favorites—Cuz I’m a Woman, Muddy River, Spin, and Stealin’ My Thunder—it's time to get cracking!
WHEN & WHERE
Tifany will record the album over the summer of 2011, using various locations and techniques in Athens, Georgia. We will be enlisting the help of some very talented musicians and artists to help bring her vision to life. Skye Taylor is slated to engineer and co-produce the album. Chris Griffin and the good folks of Griffin Mastering in Atlanta are ready to take the raw tracks and make them sparkle.
WHO
Tifany Lee is a Southern writer and performer. She has produced two full-length albums entitled “In My Room” and “Big Bad World.” You can hear selections on the TifanyLee.com website.
Tifany studied classical piano as a child under James Hart, later teaching herself guitar. She explores the dichotomy of being a modern woman with traditional romantic notions of femininity. With two independently released albums, she has opened for such national acts as the Pointer Sisters at the Mablehouse Amphitheatre and beside the Zac Brown Band at The Parkside Tavern in Atlanta. Tifany entertained the 60,000 plus crowd at the annual Georgia/Tennessee basketball game with the National Anthem in 2004 with her unique and powerful voice.
WHY
Making and recording music is an expensive and labor-intensive endeavor. And while maintaining creative control has freed Tifany to pursue her art at a high and visceral level, it also means she has had to fund everything herself. Tifany has already invested over three years in pre-production, secured publishing through the Lowery Group, and invested heavily in the instruments she will play on the album.
