The album you've been waiting for! (or at least the album I'VE been waiting for)
Years in the making, this Summer I'm producing a new recording centered around interpretive arrangements of the Piano Preludes of Claude Debussy, written for contemporary jazz musicians in an intimate chamber setting. The album will also include some original compositions.
For this project I've convened my very favorite musicians. Top-call artists from across New England, these players combine serious chops with a subtle sensibility, and happen to also be just very cool people. The group has been described as a "contemporary jazz chamber ensemble" made up of all musicians trained and experienced in the jazz and classical arenas (Thomas Bergeron-trumpet, David Veslocki-guitar/electric lute, Dan Campolieta-piano, Samuel Adams-acoustic bass, Charlie Dye-percussion).
It's easy to be a part of this project through Kickstarter.com. You can pre-order for a minimum donation of $9.
By making a donation of any amount, you are tangibly affecting the quality of the music. More than anything, you are warming my heart by essentially saying that you believe in me as an artist and a musician, and that you believe the end product will be something you will want to listen to (*smile*). Also, on a more material level, the creation of a high quality recording, it turns out, is an expensive endeavor. Costs include: paying talented musicians to rehearse and record, renting a good studio space, hiring an engineer, mixing specialist, and mastering specialist, designing album artwork, manufacturing and distributing CDs, and of course all of the time put into writing and arranging the music for the album. The more financial backing the project has, the higher the quality will be at every stage of production.
A donation of just $1 or more makes you officially a part of the project and gives you access to all project updates (special guest announcements, studio choices, new arrangements being finished, etc) via my kickstarter.com blog. I'll be discussing aspects of my creative process and talking about some of the specific music on the album, among other fun things. Oh, and you can be sure there will be ample studio footage when that time comes (mid-June). Check out the right of the page to see what other goodies you get for high donation levels.
Thanks for taking the time to check out the project. I hope you decide to take part. It's going to be beautiful!
Stay tuned for regular updates ...
